Staring at the Shrieker carrying a whole tree on his shoulder, I couldn't help but feel scared. An ogre was stronger than this?
I stare at its despicable face as it smiles widely, seemingly mocking me for even trying to escape.
I continue running with my attention spanning over the entire area. I was trying to look for something to hide from, something like a stiff boulder or a small cliff that I could slide down to hide from the tree that was about to fly in my direction.
But there was nothing close to me, so ultimately I decided to use the trees that were still rooted to the ground to my advantage, fearing that he'd throw it at me soon.
Not wanting to waste any more time, not like I do have time, I ran behind a tree, which should hopefully stop or at least lower the momentum of the trunk he'd throw at me. I'd rather take the chances than die instantly or die while gambling on whether he could hit me or not.
I then kept on running, lining up the trees as I did so. I pass another one, which makes it two trees between me and the Shrieker. I kept switching my attention to the Shrieker and towards the creek, as I wanted to know when I should brace for impact. He looked like he was struggling a bit, as he was having a hard time aiming at me. I was about to pass another tree, but it seemed like 2 was the max I could do. The tree he was aiming at me was now fully flying into the sky, heading in my direction.
I was still running forward, but I had my attention on the flying tree. I didn't know if this helped me as I only got more scared the more I stared at it.
" Fuck this... "
CRACK!
The tree he had thrown hit the first tree. At impact, the tree the Shrieker threw had cracked, snapping it in half, but the tree it had hit absolutely disintegrated in turn. It then recoiled to the second tree, in which it stopped completely, but as it did so, a sharp branch went towards my direction.
!
Luckily enough, I was looking in its direction, so I was able to dodge it. It didn't stop it from grazing my right arm though, as it started to bleed out.
" Argh! "
Even with my adrenaline pumping, it was still hella painful. But I had to continue running as the loud thump of the Shrieker's footsteps started echoing again behind me.
I had finally arrived at the creek, where I discovered the goblins buried to the ground, with an entire tree covering their crushed bodies.I didn't have any time to grieve for their deaths as the shrubs behind me started to rumble.
I crossed the creek without any hesitation. I was quick to cross, but I was still careful. I didn't want to slip here and die by concussion or drowning after all. I still need to repay my debt to this bastard.
" AHHHHH " The Shrieker emerged from the forest as he screeched in madness. He seemed incredibly angry, possibly due to him treating me as a dead man walking, but I still managed to escape him somehow.
This arrogant son of a...
He walks slowly in my direction. I was still crossing the creek only with a little space left to cross, but that was still a lot considering the size of the Shrieker's hands.
I had to hurry up and cross the creek instantly. But the rumbling of the Shrieker's footsteps as he stepped into the creek was enough to shake the ground, making me unsure if I could take a step completely.
So I decided to crawl down, using my hands to traverse the slippery creek with more grip on my body.
I continued crawling, bearing no mind to the water wetting my clothes. My neck-long hair had covered my head. But as long as I could see, I continued going through the slippery creek.
Thankfully, not long after, I successfully grabbed dry ground. I scurried up top as I looked at Shrieker, still standing on the other side of the creek with only one of his feet stepping on the creek. It felt like he was stomping on the creek trying to shake me off my feet. I only had one of my arms on top of the dry ground and it seemed as if it was scared to cross the creek, so it just decided to stomp on it to make me slip and kill me that way.
Well, that was what he thought he was doing. Smiling, I had formed a plan in my head.
It's time to repay the debt.
Still stomping on the creek, I watch him staring at me in anger.
Thud..Thud..Thud..Thud.
I pull out my arm as I hold up my palm towards the Shrieker. He was still stomping the ground, desperately trying to kill me.
" It seems you really want me to slip, huh? Give me an example first... Bastard "
Thud..T-
Before the Shrieker could stomp again in the creek, mist began to form in the Shrieker's eyes.
It kept on concentrating within that area, starting to form what seemed to be an arm.
Made out of black mist, the two arms floated directly on both sides of the eyes of the Shrieker. As the Shrieker was mid-stomp already, his impaired vision seems to have screwed him over, making him step on the round side of a rock instead of its flat side.
Thud
Another loud thump had hit the ground, but instead of the usual stomping, it was the entire body of a Shrieker falling down onto the ground, hitting its head in the process.
If you had just thrown another tree at me, I would've died here already. This is the difference between you and me, bird brain.

...
The Shrieker was not moving. I didn't know if that killed it or just knocked it out, but I'd definitely die if I stayed in this creek. My entire body was weakened. Not only did my adrenaline run out with my body being worn down due to the constant running, but I had used too much Ki, or the energy a physical extraordinary uses. This works the same as stamina; once it runs out, your body struggles to move.
I scurried across the dry ground with all that was left of my energy. I crawled and crawled until I was finally safe.
Hah... I deeply sigh as I think of my day.
I became a teen again, finding fantasy creatures such as the goblins and killing the Elite beast unique only to the story of the White Heron.
Where am I really?
This was the setting for my fanfiction, but I only wrote one chapter, with the ending being the hunters killing the Shrieker.
What would happen after that? Where am I?
As much as I wanted to seek answers, I couldn't really figure much by myself. I just want to rest for now.
I closed my eyes as I rested my body. Was the Shrieker dead? If not, when will he rise up? That was not my problem anymore as I could finally hear the voices of people and the sound of a car engine stopping near me.
"There is the kid! " The footsteps of what I'm hoping to be the hunters echoed throughout the hard ground I was lying on.
" And a.... "
" Oh my go- " They seem to have found my little buddy lying on the floor.
" Give him the potion! " That was the last thing I heard before I succumbed to sleep.
