Chapter 12 - Inside the barrier

"Do you know the power level in the Exor world?" Leon asked. The three of us shook our heads.

"I don't know all the levels but the first three, I just know the first three. The first level was the Holy Servant, the second level was called the Devout Follower, the third level was called the Messenger. Maybe there are further levels but I don't know about it. Those three levels are subdivided into 3 stages, namely lower, middle and upper.

The Black Rat Master was rumored to have the strength of a mid-stage Messanger. To deal with thousands of Exor Candidate, a single messenger was enough. However, problems was appears when most of Half Beast had broken through to the Holy Servant stage. A Messenger was not enough.

As a result, several people managed to get out of the barrier. Luckily Black Rat Master was smart. He brought the five most talented Half Beast to serve him directly. The five of them were the The Black Rat subordinate pillars, Zwein was one of them.

On the plus side, he could manage most half beasts more easily. The negative impact was that he cannot fully control his five subordinates. It is these five pillars and their subordinate that often kill humans who climb up the Verra Mountain."

I gained more knowledge about Exor levels. I wonder, am I now at the level of Holy Servant or Exor Candidate?

"Then how about you, what are you doing here?" Clarissa asked. This was an important question, so far, Leon seems friendly and gave us a lot of information, but we don't know why he was here and hy he gave us information so easily.

Leon seemed to have expected Clarissa's question, he replied, "I tried to run away from there. The only reason why I was able to escape was because my strength was enough to rival any of the Black Rat Lord's five pillars. I respected Master Black Rat, but we have different goals, I can't stand their behavior that kills humans so easily, Deep in my heart, I cannot change my mind that I am part of humanity."

This guy… I was a little surprised, I didn't expect that Leon was that strong. If what he said was true, then he could be of great help to us.

Clarissa then asked, "Do you know anything about my brother?"

Leon tilted his head and looked at Clarissa in surprise, "Your brother?"

Clarissa told about her brother. Leon listened to the story well. After he finished, he immediately said, "The boulder you saw was probably one of the entrances through the barrier. Most likely your brother already inside the barrier. As for how his condition will be, it depends on who is the one that he first meets."

In a barrier… It was obviously very dangerous, according to information from Leon there were at least several thousand half beasts, there were many who couldn't control their animal instincts. There were also those half beast who like to hurt humans. Obviously, it wasn't a safe place for Clarissa's Brother.

Clarissa knew that fact, however, I could see the determination on her face. Bravely, she said, "I need to save my brother."

Arnold, who heard Clarissa's words, immediately changed his expression. "What are you saying, didn't you hear what Leon said?! It's a dangerous place there's a high chance that your brother was dead!"

"I can't just sit still Uncle! He is my only family, even if the chance of he life was slight, I still need to save him!" Clarissa shouted at Arnold.

Then how about me… Do I need to help Clarissa? So far I've obtained information regarding Exor and what happened on this mount, I've fulfilled my original goal. Plus, inside the barrier it must be very dangerous. I can't guarantee that I could defeat the weakest half beasts there. Do I need to take the risk to help Clarissa?

As I was undecided about my decision, Leon suddenly spoke.

"If your brother is really in the barrier, maybe I can help you."

I frowned after heard what Leon said, "What do you mean? Didn't you say you ran away from there? Don't tell me you want to come back."

"With my current strength, it shouldn't be difficult for me to escape again, however, Miss Clarissa's brother's was in danger, I'm sure if Miss Clarissa tries to save her brother alone, not only will she fail to save her brother, her life will also be in danger."

What's this? Is he serious? Leon… even though I know he looks good but to actually help Clarissa and cancel his purpose to run away, how kind this guy really is.

Clarissa looked at Leon with a smile, She wiped the tears that rolled down her cheeks and said, "thank you."

Leon nodded his head slowly.

"May I come too?" I asked suddenly.

Clarissa looked at me in surprise, she hastily said to me "You don't have to help me? Didn't you want to know the secret of this mount? Now that you know it, you better get out of here now."

Uh, I didn't think Clarissa would worry about my safety. Thanks for that. But my goal was not just to help you. It's a little crazy, but I have a feeling that I could make progress if I go inside the barrier following Leon. The premonition was so strong that I was convinced that this was some kind of special message being conveyed to me.

"I've thought about it carefully, I think I really want to come with you into the barrier."

"Thank you," Clarissa said simply. She didn't try to refuse my help.

"Then it's decided, the three of us will enter the barrier," Leon said.

Leon then looked at Arnold and said, "Sir, you should wait outside the barrier, if we still haven't come out for two days or more, then go to Roco village and give information about Master Black Rat."

Arnold, who had originally thought of entering along us, canceled his intention after hearing Leon's words. He knew that if something happened inside the barrier, the first one to be affected would be Roco Village. The safety of Roco village was at stake right now.

"Alright, let's go."

Me, Clarissa and Leon left Arnold to go inside the barrier. It will be a dangerous journey. I didn't know if I will regret my decision later. However, on the other hand, this was also an opportunity. An opportunity for me to step further into the Exor World.

We then walked for a few hours, I could see the sun was starting to set. Finally we arrived at our destination. This isn't the place where Clarissa's brother was missing but it's also one of the gates to enter the barrier, at least that's what Leon said.

"Take my hand," Leon held out his right hand to me and his left to Clarissa. We both immediately grabbed Leon's hand. The next second, I saw a red shadow covering my surroundings, the only thing I could see was Leon's hand. I continued to follow Leon's movements even though I could only see his hands.

After a while we finally arrived at the other side. The vision in front of me returned to normal, I could see the forest around me as well as Clarissa and Leon.

"We've arrived," said Leon,

I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, but suddenly I felt a strong pressure that made it hard for me to breathe, it felt like I was underwater. An extremely cold female voice pierced my ears.

"Well well, the little lion brought two delicious meals."
