Kichii stared in awe and bafflement at the woman claiming to be the humanized form of his pet fox. How could it be true though? Her being his pet fox? No way. It isn't humanly possible...though he couldn't deny it-after all, Kichii did see the transformation first hand.
"I...uh…"
"Yes, Ki?"
"Ki?"
"Oh, sorry! Is It okay if I call you that? Or are you more comfortable with me calling you Kichii?"
"Uh…" What the hell is going on here? Kichii was at a loss for words. Just barely had he understood her words.
"N-No, K-Ki's fine...A-Aura…"
"Okayyy!! Heehee, Ki~"
The girl who proclaimed herself as Aura was shorter than Kichii by just a few inches. Her hair was the colour of the sun, identical to her pair of fuzzy yellow-white fox ears on her head. She was a slim girl with broad hips, wide shoulders an oval shaped, and moon coloured pupils. Her hair was tied in the 'twin tails' style.
Aura's clothes were Japanese themed. A long whiteish-yellow kimono which streamed down to her ankles was her main attire. The colours put an emphasis on her gorgeous pale skin.
Finally, three long bushy fox-like tails were seen swaying majestically in the wind from her lower back. Three tails. She did have fangs, sharp, pointed ones at that. Her canines...Kichii hoped he would never become a victim of her bites.
"S-so...you...are you really...m-my pet fox…?" He hesitantly, yet eagerly questioned. The woman halted with her eyes glued onto the boy. As for Aura's answer…
"Ki…"
"Y-Yes..?"
"Mmm...mwah."
"…!" Aura planted her petite, squishy lips onto his cheek, lovingly kissing the boy. The kiss lasted only for a mere second, however, the moment he felt her pulpy lips, he knew, it really was Aura.
With a small chuckle, Aura answered his inquiry, "Isn't it obvious, Kichii? It's e, your darling fox, Aura! The one you took the splinter out of two years before!"
"…" A-Aura…! "You...you really are her, aren't you?"
"Yes!! I-W-Whoa!"
Immediately, Kichii lunged at her, wrapping his slender white arms completely around her body. The feeling of her frame pressing against his was extraordinary. He savoured the sensation of Aura's incredibly soft skin. Pulling her into a spine-breaking embrace, he snuggled his face into her lavender scented, silky hair.
"Aura...I...I can't believe it…" The hug startled her, though after three seconds, she softly twinkled, then returned the squeeze.
Kichii tightened his grip, memorizing the sweetness. Her skin is so squishy...it's like I'm laying on a human-sized cushion...mmm…
"Ki…" Aura murmured to him.
"Yes Aura?"
"There's something I've always wanted to say to you...can...can I…?"
"Of course, Aura...I'm listening…"
"Al...Alright...w-well...I…" Aura's body began to shake within Kichii's arms as her words came to a pause. He sensed how on the edge she must've felt about her next few words…
"...I love you, Ki...e-even though I'm not just a fox like you thought I was...would...would it be alright if I continued to stay with you? E-Even though I'm not the fox you thought I was?"
The boy pondered around this for a good few seconds before he gave a valid response.
"I...I love you too, Aura. Of course it's alright. It doesn't matter to me what you are. Just keep this a secret from Amelia for the meantime though, alright? You can sleep with me in my room, like you always do." He felt as Aura closed the distance between them even more.
"Y-Yes! I-I will!!" Next, the girl looked him straight in the eye, and uttered a single phrase, confirming her feelings for Kichii, "I love you, Kichii!!"
"Waaahhh!! I'm so sorry, Kichii!!!"
"H-hey! Everybody makes mistakes, don't they?! It's alright! Stop crying already!"
"Waaaahhhh!!! I can't believe I rolled so much and kept you up all night...Kichiii!!! I'm sorrrryyy!!!"
"It's okay, see?!! I'm fine! I'll just go to sleep a bit early tonight!" it was a Saturday Morning, our lovely protagonist, Kichii had just gotten out of bed with his now-humanoid fox, Aura. He didn't receive a good night's sleep though. Aura's sleeping habits were tremendously different from her patterns as a fox. Nearly wholly opposing for that matter.
Throughout the night, Aura twisted and turned. Poking Kichii's cheeks with her elbow, kicking his legs, at one point, she even ended up on top of the boy.
Kichii wondered if it was because of her sudden change in form she slept so wildly. Then again, she was originally a little fox when they first met...so maybe she was just getting back used to being in a humanoid being.
"Uuu...I guess since it's my first time in two years being in my humanoid form, I've gotten rusty at controlling myself as I sleep…"
"How do you...actually, never mind…" Alas, Kichii let out a small groan, plus shook his head. "...Don't worry about it too much, alright? Come on, Amelia's probably not awake yet so I'll make you breakfast."
"Reallly?!" On cue, Aura promptly perked up. It was as if she was never troubled in the first place, completely renewed with vigour.
"Yayy! Kichii's going to make me breakfast!"
"H-hey…" Aura wrapped her arms around his right, and held it closely to her chest. The action made Kichii blush bright red. Th-They're so soft...her breasts…
"Let's go, Ki!"
"Alright...eat up."
"Thanks Ki." Kichii sat beside Aura at the table, both decoded on a buttered scrambled egg sandwich each.
"Nom. Mmm...it's so good!!! Your cooking is as great as ever!"
"Y-You think so?"
"Mm! Mm!" By her expression, he sensed she spoke the truth.
"One thing was on his mind though. He peered at her lower back, in which her three fox tails resided.
"Hey...you're a fox spirit, right? Those uhh...what do you call it again...something known as a...Kitsune?"
"Mm? Hey, how'd you know? Wait...you haven't met any more, have you?!"
"N-no, i-it's just, I've read about fox spirits in manga before! B-But I haven't actually met any others!" Kichii anxiously answered the all-too-enthusiastic girl.
"Oh...well yeah, I am a fox spirit."
"I thought so."
That answered one of this questions. Although...her being a fox spirit and Kichii a human boy...why did she choose him of all people? He didn't think he possessed anything particularly special at all. He was just an ordinary, average high school student.
"But...if you're a fox spirit, why did youd ecided to live with me of all people, Aura? Aren't there plenty of other people much better off than me you could've lived with?"
"…" His inquiry caught her by complete shock, so much that she stared blankly at him for a good few seconds before shrinking back.
"W-Well...you're right about that...uuu...if...if you really want to know the reason then...I guess it's okay for me to tell you...i-it's a little embarrassing though…"
"Embarrassing?"
"Y-Yeah…well...I...It's not unusual for a fox sprit to take an interest in a human...if that's what you're wondering. But before we met iin that part two years back...you could say...I've been watching you."
"Watching me?"
"Yeah, watching you."
"…" Wait, seriously? Kichii went fully silent after hearing that. So basically, Aura's been stalking him even before they met? How freaky is that?
"But why?" He had to know, "What was so interesting about a nobody lke me, that you started stalking me?"
"Mmm! Don't you dare call youself a nobody again, you hear me?!"
"B-Bwaah!" Kichii was suddenly startled by her out of the blue shriek. Aura shot daggers at him, starting deep into his very soul with rage.
"Ki! You're not a nobody at all! Goshhh!! What in the world made you think that about yourself anyway?!" She blurted out at the top of her lungs. Kichii hoped with all his heart it wasn't loud enough to wake Amelia.
"H-hey! Keep it down! You'll wake Amelia!"
"Oh! Whoops!! I'll be quieter!"
After deep breaths, Aura quietly regained composure. Peering at him once more, she scowled a little.
"W-Well, anyway, I've been watching you ever since you entered into your high school. Remember that girl you spoke to on your first day?"
"mmm…" A flashback of his grade six came to mind.
It was a girl with long blonde hair. Kichii recaalled the encounter as a dream, for the woman's face was shrouded in darkness. He couldn't remember much about her, but the knowledge of her gorgeous yellow hair made him realise something. The colours, they matched perfectly with Aura's…n-No way...that...that girl...she couldn't have been...
"Wait, so it wasn't a dream?!"
"Yayy! You remembered! Nope, that was me, your pet fox, Aura!"
"…" Kichii laughed to himself. "I should've known." He said, "You really are something else, Aura."
"Heeheehee!"
"Ahh...Kichii...you're awake already…?"
"E-Eh?! A-Amelia? Q-Quick, change back into your fox form, Aura!"
"Y-Yes!!"
Disaster nearly befell the two as Amelia, the maid, sleepily entered the kichen. Though thankfully, Aura's transformation phase was short, and right before Amelia gaped toward them, Aura was already a fox.
"Oh...good morning, Amelia…" Kichii attempted to speak with as little panic as possible...narrowly succeeding.
"Hiip! Hiip! Hiip!"
"Morning...yawn… Ahh...God...I need coffee…"
"…" Phew...she didn't see anything…
"Now then...game time."
"Game? You mean those magic things you use all the time?"
"Magic? Uhh, what are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about those, silly!" Aura snatched one his black 'GameStation' controllers. The 'GameStation' console was a system which played the most modern of games. Kichii often played on weekends and evenings. Aura had always wondered how it worked…
"Oh...you mean my GameStation. Well I won't know how it works, so it might be magic...you wanna play it with me?"
"CAN I?!"
"W-Whoa! Y-Yeah!"
"Yes!!! Thanks Ki!!!"
"AHHH!!! I QUIT!! I hate this machine!!! Slam."
"Hey! Careful with that!"
"Waahhh...this game is too hard!!! I hate it!!!" The two decided on a classic role playing game. Although...only a few minutes in, Aura's mage party was annihilated by Kichii's combat-oriented team...which resulted in her controller being slammed onto a wall.
Kichii watched in utter dismay as the unfortunate device was shattered into tiny pieces right before his very eyes, like an innocent man being wrongfully convicted of a crime and sentenced to death.
"M-My controller...it...it's gone…!"
"Waaahhh!! Stupid Kichii!!!! You're too powerful!!!"
"No...but I spent all my allowance on that…"
"HEY! Are you even listening?!"
"Don't worry, you wiill be missed...I'll plan a funeral for you later."
"HEY!! KICHII!!"
"…"
"HUH?!" Aura waved her hands in front of Kichii's face in a futile attempt to grab his attention. Though Kichii was preoccupied with his defiled controller, gently lifting the pieces in his hands.
Unexpectedly, he stood to his feet, Aura fell silent, her eyes fixated on his body.
"Dear God...please...bless my controller...let it live a peaceful life with the controller Gods…"
"EHH?! NOW YOU'RE PRAYING?! KICHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!"
"I'm sowwy Kichii…"
"Gosh, no need to be so down...it's just a controller. I'll just buy a new one later."
"I know, but I broke it...I'm sowwy…"
"Gosh…" Kichii approached her with a soft smile. He placed a hand on her silky, squishy head, then kissed her fluffy cheek. Aura blushed at the action, but accepted it.
"...Come on. I know it was an accident...and besides, there's no way I'd get mad at you for just that."
Stupidly gawking at the boy, Aura shrunk back. She thought Kichii would shout at her for the destruction of his controller. But here she was, being consoled by him instead.
"Are...are you sure? You aren't going to shout at me or anything?" The fox cautiously questioned.
"Of course not. I've never yelled at you before, have I?"
"N-No...you...you promise you won't?"
"Yeah. I promise."
"A-And...you...you still love me?"
"Yeah. I still love you."
"…"
Next, Aura swiftly latched her arms around Kichii, strongly snatching him for herself. She wasn't going to let him move even an inch away from her grasp.
"...thanks Kichii...I love you…"
"I love you too, Aura."
The day went by at a blink of an eye. At nightfall, Kichii allowed Aura to sleep in his bed once more. Though after experiencing her sleeping habits first hand...he was reluctant.
The two laid together in bed on their sides, facing each other with sweet, loving grins.
"Wow…" Aura...she's so pretty…
"Mm? What is it Ki?"
"Nothing." Kichii sad to her. He felt truly grateful for having adopted the fox all those years ago. Her gorgeous, sparkling greyish-white peepers, her pale, cushion-like flesh, her sunny har, what would've occurred if he left her? That, he didn't wish to be aware of. He kept his eyes on the girl, quietly whispering into her fluffy fox ears, "Goodnight, Aura." Aura gleefully melted into the bedsheets, bidding him a good night in return.
