Chapter 28 - The Mandurugo

After my episode in the forest with the Shadow and fainting, William decided that he would not allow me to go anywhere by myself. He also told his brothers he was going with me, so of course, Cooper has come along as well. Now, two days after I woke up, I have flown back to the Gate, the men in toe. They continued to ask questions about why I wasn't going home, about why I was so desperate to leave their house, and about why I was acting funny. I just told them that they would either see or I would leave them behind.

Let's just say, they weren't happy.

Now, I'm in the forest where the Gate is, and I begin to smell something that makes my gut roil. William and Cooper also smell it and both turn green. "I think there's a carcass out here!" Cooper gasped.

"Or several," William suggested.

I frown at them. "That's what carrion smells like?"
