An original is a person who has an element that nobody had before them. The Originals were some kind of legend that nobody believed in. That was until the current king did his first evaluation. He was the first original in a millennia.
The element of the king was kept a secret, but everyone knew that even though he had guards with him all the time, he didn't really need them because he was strong enough to defeat any enemy.
"An original!" Both Kore's mom and dad asked in a loud tone.
The chatter of the people in the line behind them began.
"Is he really an original?"
"The king said it himself."
"Don't you want to introduce yourself to the boy there, my daughter?"
The chatter continued and the woman from before took the family in another room while the king tried to calm the mass down on this matter.
"Like you have seen, your son seems to be an original." The woman explained, "We will take care that no information about this will spread outside, but there are some things that need to be done and you will get a formal letter from the king soon."
The woman explained things like that Kore and his family needed to write down what they learned about this new element, so if it appeared again they had ways to teach them. She also said they needed to make reports every year or so and that Kore himself should be trained in other things because it might be linked to the element.
With that, the family returned home only to be surprised by their home being a mess.
The table was flipped over. Everything was laying on the floor and was broken.

"Mom! Dad! Get down! " Kore shouted as he himself got down and shoved them behind the knee so they would fall down as well.
A knife just flew by them and was stuck in the wall as it was aimed at the father.

The messages Kore saw surprised him. There was an intruder in the house who clearly wanted to kill his family and him. But the thing that he really feared was the difficulty of the quest. Of course, he was only 6 years old, but in his old world, SSS meant something nearly impossible. He had his parents here, but he didn't know how strong they were or whether they would even fight.
"Shit, it missed," an assassin that appeared out of thin air said. The assassin looked like a male and was completely covered in a dark cloak. The only thing one could see were his green eyes.
The Assassin disappeared again, and both of his parents stood up with a look like they wanted to kill that bastard. The father said, "The enemy is a light elemental who breaks the light to make himself invisible." The mother continued, "The breaking of the light makes the user blind. That's why he appeared to check if his knife hit "
Kore, who was still on the ground, never saw that side of his parents. They looked like they were war veterans or something like that. He knew that his parents knew a lot about elements and stuff like that, but they were able to determine the element and even its weakness just by seeing him use it.
As Kore wanted to stand up as well and help his parents fight, his mother interrupted as she cast a shield of air around him, "This is nothing a kid should deal with."
Just as she cast the shield and looked at him, another knife came from behind aimed at her back. The father lifted a shadow and made it repel, hitting the assassin in the shoulder. "You really should watch your back a bit," he said. The mother sighed and went back to the fight.
"Not bad," the assassin said as he appeared at the same point again and pulled out the knife. "Too bad I have to kill you." He healed his wounds using light magic.
Kore tried to break out of the air shield. Not because he wanted to help his parents. He knew they were fine just by spending the last 6 years with them. He wanted that quest reward.
The fight against the assassin and the parents continued. The mother tried to hit him using wind slashes, but he evaded all of them. At the same time, the father laid down traps that would slow down the assassin. Every time he would step on such a trap, he would get hit by a wind slash that healed pretty fast.
The assassin used his light to blind the parents. They couldn´t see anything. The assassin became invisible again, waiting for them to react and maybe panic. It is also possible that it didn't work, so his invisibility just saved him if that were the case.
Kore's parents just stood there, but he knew something was off. He didn't get hit by the light, probably because of the shield as it had some cracks in it. Still, Kore couldn´t break it. He tried hitting it but it didn't work. Then an idea came to him. He put his hands on the ground and tried to imagine the feeling he felt earlier today.

Kore grabbed the knife that was stuck in the wall from the first attack and waited...
He knew the assassin couldn't see anything while invisible either, so he wouldn´t know that Kore escaped from the shield as long as he didn't hear it.
Kore stood behind his parents when the assassin appeared. He was just behind the mother with his knife pointed at her trying to stab her, but that was when... "I won't let my family die this time!"
