Chapter 1 - Chapter one

It's a tell from thousands of years ago, when the world was divided over 100 small and big countries (Kingdoms). And most of kings were following iniquity and incest to expand their borders. At the centre of the map, there was three most influential kingdoms- Kush kul, Shal kul and Dipt kul. With a significant history, all three kingdoms stood over other kingdoms. All three kingdoms were equally flourishing, fertile and strong to be the one to bring all the kingdoms togather and make an united country, one country for all. Fortunately Kush kul, Shal kul and Dipt kul wanted to bring all the kingdoms togather, but, unfortunately neither of them wanted to bow to each other and vow their loyalty for them.

Kush kul's king, king Adwait, spent his all life in drinks, whores and luxury. He never faced a single war but kingdom was still on the best, he could never have made, and the reason was their commander Shashank, a man hardly in his twenties.

Shashank's forefather had taken an oth that his upcoming seven generation will serve as servent to the king of Kush kul and will full fill the words given by the king. The oath was full filled by the ancestors and was completed with Shashank's father commander Ulochan's last battle, battle against Shal kul.

Ulochan's last battle turned to be the turning point for Shashank's life and every thing from there started spinning around him. Shal kul attacked in the dark of night on Kush kingdom. Which was immoral and against the war rules. Kusha's were loosing the war and king was living in his luxury.

How long a war takes to end, is unknown for all. And since war took place immorally so there was no war laws were in force. Neither war stopped at sun fall and nore at night. A war couldn't be fought without a commander so Ulochan fought five days and nights without rest. Without sleep and rest, exhaustion made him slow and helpless. Enemie soldier's strikes gave him rest on the ground but before passing away, with his last breath he handed over his post to his son (Shashank) and made him new working commander in charge of the army.

In a battleground every moment was sorrowful and to sit and cry over his father's corpse could have become a reason for thousands more deaths. He knew if they loose the war what will become of the subject, of women and children. He didn't wish to see his mother, sisters and brother to suffer all of that. He took charge of the army and the young blood running through his veins, sorrow of his father's death and thought of his family suffer never-ending pain, made him an unstoppable beast.

War which seemed against them, just within two days, they made their enemy outcry. By the end of eighth day enemies fall back to their kingdom and the kusha's hoisted the victory flag.

When the army returned through the castle gate, flowers rain welcomed them. Women, children and senior citizens welcomed them on their knees. Flower path was decorated for the soldiers, who returned. People on both side of road and the flower path lead them to the castle. Where king has sat on the the throne, in common hall.

King had a goblet of wine in hand,  which was decorated with fine gems for him. He finished his drink and ran his eyes through the returned soldiers. Shashank stood in front with some other soldiers. "It's such a grief to loose the commander." He said, (insted of congratulating for win and safe return) all drunk and banged his goblet on the throne side. Maiden ran and filled it again.

"Not only the commander but for every single soul we lost." Shashank said. King stopped his goblet in middle and looked at the boy, who was still a teen. "Your highness." Shashank added.

"Yeh, yeh. For every single soul, we lost." King rose a toast all by himself and emptied the goblet. He put goblet aside on the table, maiden again ran to fill it but this time he gestured her to step back.

"The thing is," king held on the throne. "We need a new commander." He paused and stared at Shashank for a sec. "And I heard you were promoted as new commander by the last one."

"Yes, i was." Shashank replied. "But i do not wish to be one." He added. Hall filled with the chatter of soldiers behind him.

"Ahhh…" King sighed, "At this young age, you do not wish to be one in command?"

"No, your highness."

"Let's see then." King ran his eyes through all the soldiers in the hall. "Whoever wish to be the commander step forward." King said loud and gestured maiden to fill the goblet.

All the soldiers in hall shared a look with each other but no one stepped forward, insted everyone took a step back while, king was drinking and Shashank fully focused on his ignorance.

King again banged the goblet on the table. "You said, you don't wish to be one." King said, raising his eyes.

"Yes, your highness."

"Then why did you come forward?" King asked.

Shashank looked back, everyone has stepped back. "I didn't step forward, Your highness, everyone stepped back."

"So now yoy see, no one wishes to be commander and since last commander assigned you on his behalf, i shall respect his decision." King said, lost in his drinks.

"Come here boy." King ordered, high in drinks. Shashank stepped up the stairs and stood in front of king. King rose from his throne and took out his blue gem ring and passed it to Shashank and declared him new commander of Kusha's army.

All the soldiers in the hall started banging their weapons in cheer and king snatched jug of wine from maiden's hand. "Tonight's feast for the winners." He rose jug high above his head and walked out on his stumbling feets.
