Edmund rode up the hills. His house wasn't more than 15km away so he was excited. He missed Ayan so much. He looked back to some group of men who were about 5 in number. This made him recollect Akima the one who betrayed him. He could feel his veins rile up from rage and anger. He wished he could see him and confront him. He was sure to make him pay for what he did. Akima would not be spared!!
He suddenly remembered the little boy he get not long ago. He wondered how such a cute little boy would be left to fend for himself.
How has he been surviving? Would he beg tomorrow to feed again?
`Atkins needs help. The citizens are devastated. There is little survival input and yet the taxes are high.'
Edmund wished he could do something about it. He felt pity for his homeland. He felt so sad about all this. He wished he could meet the governor and tell him all this. It seems he wasn't aware of this because he can't imagine how a leader could be pleased with all this. He hadn't been to other kingdoms but he was sure no monarch could be happy with a kingdom like this.
He could feel the hot air blow his slightly brown hair. It felt all so good and could make him completely forget about his hunger.
He rode faster as he rushed down the hill. His house was still a bit far so he had to move faster since he wanted to get home before the sun went down.
"Woof," He said softly to ease a bit of tension
he gathered.
He tightened his grip and continued with his trip. It felt like this horse understood the assignment as it also loosened a bit and put his limb into more action.
He passed through a narrow way with led him to southern Atkins.
He looked around admiring the place for some minutes. 2 minutes became 3 and 3 became 5 but Edmund still stayed motionless with one hand on the reins. He was now in his familiar environment. He let out a wide silent laugh. This wasn't of mockery but joy. He was going to see his friends and family soon.
He rushed back to his reality and continued riding. He could imagine how worried his dad must have been. Ayan would also have been very worried and his mum worst would have been devastated.
What if they weren't?: What if this was common? What if he has done worse kinds of stuff than this but he couldn't remember?
He pondered till he found himself just along the route to his home.
He cleared the thoughts from his mind and kept a straight face as he rode.
He noticed that it wasn't as busy as it would usually be. He didn't read the meaning of this as he continued with his journey home.
He trotted to his large compound. Everything seemed normal as he rode past the Grand Patron's quarters. He rode past his father's uncle's building and accelerated. He rode for about 2 minutes till he arrived at his father's quarters.
Things also looked normal there. Maybe this wasn't the first time he had stayed away from home after all. Or maybe they were just too busy to worry about him. He noticed 3 young men in front of his house. He couldn't get a clear sight of them from his distance so he got down from his horse. He rushed to them upon getting a clearer vision.
"Ayan!" He yelled.
A 6'2 tall man turned to him and rushed on catching sight of Edmund.
"Drax!" "Skurt!!" He yelled again. And they also turned and followed Ayan's gaze.
"Edmund!" They all yelled and rushed to their friend.
