Chapter 3 - The Silat Warrior

"After I beat you, you better start talking," he said, keeping his golden eyes on the mysterious man.

Yusei smirked, "Sure thing–if you can beat me."

With that, he took off. A single step forward launched him forward like a spring, disappearing from the naked eye.

He's fast! Yusei thought.

Even the Overseer was taken by surprise at the agility he just witnessed, raising his arms as a massive kick blew against them with a thunderous impact.

"Taekwondo, eh?" Yusei smiled from behind his guard.

He didn't respond as he withdrew his kick, landing on his hands as he swung his leg around into another kick that followed an arch, moving almost like a dance coordination–taking the Overseer by surprise as the crimson-haired stranger had to lean back, narrowly avoiding the reach of the attack.

Yusei beamed with his dazzling, orange eyes, "Capoeira, too? That's exotic, for sure! Don't see that one a lot around here."

Jumping back onto his feet with the strength of his arms, he kept his golden eyes locked on his frivolous opponent.

Yusei rolled his sleeves up, revealing chiseled, pale arms that were scribed with tattoos of a dragon's body, wrapping around his forearms with all-black scales.

"Still, I wonder if you can live up to such an inflated title, 'Martial Arts King'," Yusei smirked, returning to his stance.

He smiled a bit himself, ignoring the man's words, hopping on his feet briefly to warm his body up, "It's been awhile since I got to have a bit of fun."

This time, he launched forward with a crescent kick, but–it was a faint. Yusei raised one of his elbows to guard the attack, but was taken by the false attack as the silver-haired adolescent instead appeared behind him.

"--Speedy, are you?" Yusei smiled.

An attempt to sweep the Overseer's legs came, but as he kicked the man's leg, nothing happened.

"--?"

It was as if he had just swung his leg against a slab of steel as Yusei's legs remained unmoved from the leg sweep.

"What's wrong, Mr. 'Martial Arts King'?!"

From above, Yusei slammed his elbow down towards him. He only avoided it by ducking to the side, avoiding the powerful elbow that cratered the dirt beneath it.

Flipping back onto his feet, he brushed himself off before returning to his basic stance.

That elbow of his…it's dangerous, he thought.

Yusei stood up with a smile, wiping the dirt from the elbow of his black suit.

"Alright…Let's make this quick," Yusei said.

As such words fell from the Overseer's lips, a potent aura was felt exuding from his position as he held himself with the famous "horse stance" of Silat.

While looking forward, he was almost taken by surprise at the inhuman speed displayed by the Overseer, who closed the several meter cap between them in an instant, beginning to rapidly attack him with sharp swings of his elbows.

He weaved around the sharp elbows, soon having to block them with his arms–though even defending against them hardly felt like so as each time those refined elbows crashed against his arms, it felt like a train slamming into his body.

What's with this guy? Did he really just come here to pick a fight? Why was everybody so scared of him? Ishikawa and Tadashi recognized him, too–is he really some sort of big shot? He thought.

Though he recognized the man's style to be "Silat", it felt like something different; it was an aggressive variation of it, solely focusing on utilizing one's elbows–resulting in quick, devastating blows.

"Come on! Show me why you were selected!" Yusei said.

Selected? He thought.

As he was on the backfoot, he suddenly felt his defensive backpedaling be halted as the Overseer stomped down on his left foot, preventing him from moving back before slashing his elbow across his raised arms.

"--Gh!"

It was so swift that it had cut the wind itself; a swing of the elbow so perfectly crafted that it was as if a blade had been swung against him.

The result was a cut running along both of his forearms, leaking blood as he put an end to the rapid assault with a kick that was evaded by a jump back by the Overseer.

"--"

"Is this really all you're made out of? Look, I can tell you're a tough kid, but you're definitely not some urban legend like everybody seems to think you are. Seriously–what a disappointment," Yusei sighed, running his fingers through his red locks as that skull tattoo on his hand was displayed again.

Sitting on his knees, the student committee member was breathing heavily, wincing as his back was clearly bruised from the singular attack suffered by the Overseer.

"Touma…Hang in there!" Tadashi said quietly, holding his own back.

Ishikawa was slumped against the wall, coughing out as she held her stomach, which was burning from the heavy blow received, "...What kind of power was that? Daigo…is holding in there against a monster like this?"

Standing calmly, the silver-haired young man looked at his bleeding arms for a moment with his golden eyes in silence.

Should I use it? He questioned.

While giving himself this question, the words from somebody important to him rang in his head: "---Should only be used when it's absolutely necessary. Remember that – is my gift to you. At the end of the day, it's your choice," – these words etched into his memories resonated within him.

My choice, huh? He thought.

Looking side-to-side, he saw his two friends still reeling from the blows suffered by the arrogant, youthful man who was called the "Overseer", but to him–this man was only somebody that had finally pissed him off.

Yusei fixed his hair, "I've been thinking–your martial arts are definitely formidable, but they seem second-rate, at best. You've learned quite a few different ones, haven't you? Taekwondo, capoeira–I've even seen some footwork from boxing thrown in there. Still, that's all it is–second-rate. Maybe if you put in the time to master just one, then–"

But, as the Overseer spoke, he swallowed his words as he watched a new stance be taken by the golden-eyed young man who boasted the title of "Martial Arts King."

It was a simple stance; his left hand remained by his side, but his right was held up, facing towards his opponent as his radiant eyes locked onto the Overseer carefully.

Those golden eyes belonging to him; when brought to such focus, it was almost as if they began to glow, looking mercilessly towards their opponent.

For some reason, looking at the silver-haired youth just then, Yusei felt his instincts fire off, telling him to raise his guard–

In a burst of speed that resembled space itself being warped, the Overseer himself was unable to properly react to the attack sailing towards him before the heat of his cheek being imprinted by the knuckles of his opponent was felt.

Heavenly Daigo-Style: Second Kata: Void Fist,: Through The Nebula, he thought.
