There was growling and it trembled the small space of the carriage while Cataleya lay there in waiting. She realized that all her efforts came into this tragic end. Maybe she should have stayed at home and faced that nightmare of hers. That duke from the south.
Cataleya, who stayed bounded on her hands behind, waited for the death to befall her. She hoped that if death will come to her, she'd prefer to be swept quickly rather be alive still while being eaten flesh to flesh.
Though born to be a villainess, Cataleya possessing a soul of someone with a weak heart like Ruby was pose a great disadvantage in that situation. She might have a witty mind and sharp tongue but those weren't enough to murder as hideous as the werewolf.
Cataleya whimpered and wanting to curl into a ball when she felt that the creature was reaching towards her direction.
'That's right, I'll be dead. Maybe I can return to my world or something.' Cataleya thought as she closed her eyes firmly and grit her teeth for the incoming pain.
The creature's deep growl which resonated through every fiber of my flesh made me shivered. And it sounded large and forbidding. My eyes shut opened and I gasped sharply when I felt its sharp claws running through my arm down to my palm.
Maybe it's going to feast on my arm first. Tear it off my body or something. Cataleya though darkly to herself as she waited. Her whole body stiffened and waiting. She was startled when the creature withdraw its hand off her, racking the carriage once as it got off to the ground.
Its large stomps were slowly disappearing and Cataleya can't believed that she just survived that. Emotion overcame her as her eyes watered and she cried loudly there. Being lucky in life was never in her card on deck. It was always due to her effort why she always got what she wants.
But being lucky?
No.
It was elusive from her.
Maybe because it was karma playing its hands on her after all the bad deeds she did as the villainess. She realized that her past woud actually equate her into deserving to be in that position. Her attempt to poison to the princess, which she can't recall at all, was worthy of her being mauled there as punishment.
But then, her luck started to pick her up the ground and actually made that large beast spare her when those screaming bandits weren't.
Maybe the creature was already full and that eating her would only make it vomit for being full. Maybe.
Although such stupid speculation to give, but Cataleya was thankful enough to be alive. It was the main reason why she ran away from the Briston estate. To survive. Since she saw her fate in the hands of the ruthless duke, she chose running away before death befall on her.
But compared to being mauled mercilessly by a hungry werewolf, she'd rather chose a death by sword. It would be much faster that way. Or by hanging. It would only take a minute with a broken neck for her to stop breathing with tight rope strangling her.
Moments later, when Cataleya was calm, she started moving her hands to try free herself from the bind. Either she had snapped the rope forcibly with her amount of stretch or find any sharp object to cut it, she would do anything to get away from there.
She curled her fists together, preparing to snap the bind, she let out a breath of air before she applied a force on her hands and pulled them away from each other. It would be hard since it was rather thick, so imagine her surprise when she actually managed to do so in just one try.
Now with freed hands, Cataleya reached the cloth covering her face and sucked lots of fresh air when her face rid of the cloth masking her. She pushed herself up, ignoring the pain on her forehead as she let her head out the window of the carriage. The surrounding was rather silent but it felt like she was still being watch from somewhere in the dark.
Her skin crawl for some reason that the werewolf just waited for her to get out from the carriage. Maybe it didn't excite the beast to hunt for its prey rather than have it like an open buffet inside that carriage.
Cataleya had no plan to get hunted so she quickly turned to the coachman's seat and wonder if she could drive it by herself. Thankfully, the horses were fine but like her, they were also tense and darting their head to a certain direction in the dark where she also felt a powerful presence there.
If she took a carriage, it would only slow her down, she should take a horse then and freed the other one, she can't have it being eaten alive there. Before getting out the carriage, she tried looking for any weapon to protect herself in case.
There was a dagger tucked safety on the seat where the man who purchased her. She unsheathed it and prepared herself to get out there in the silent and dreary darkness where something followed her every movement with red eyes…
