Atticus' POV:
I stood in the ward and looked at Eloise lying on the bed.
She was breathing steadily, and I could barely hear her breathing amid the noise from the instruments. However, I could still feel her heartbeat.
I didn't know how much time had passed, but her eyes started to move under her eyelids. It was a sign that she was waking up. At that moment, I quickly walked out of the ward.
The peace of mind I felt from the mate connection also reminded me that her condition had stabilized.
It was time for me to leave. Her current condition wouldn't affect me anymore.
However, I still needed to understand her situation. So, I walked into the doctor's office.
"Perhaps she doesn't realize it, but the truth is, Ms. Cotton's mental state isn't that ideal," the doctor told me.
I wasn't used to her new identity, so I was stunned for a moment. The doctor looked at me more seriously and pointed to a specific part of Eloise's X-ray film.
