Constance's POV:
When I woke up again, I was lying on a soft bed.
"Constance!"
Baron looked at me with concern. When he saw that I was fine, he heaved a long sigh of relief. "Thank the Moon Goddess! You're fine!"
"What's wrong with me?" I felt uncomfortable about my sudden fainting. Although I was usually very weak, I'd never suddenly fainted.
Baron looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated. "Rest well. Katy will take care of you."
After Baron left, Katy came to the ward with a bunch of flowers in her arms. She was Declan's sister. She had fiery red hair just like him, but her looks weren't as outstanding as Declan's.
She loved to laugh and was very kind. She was one of the few friends I had in the pack.
"Hello, Saintess!"
I felt a little ashamed. "Don't call me that. I'm not a qualified successor."
"Don't overthink. You have the Moon Goddess' mark. You are a worthy Saintess!" Katy was very good at comforting people. She came to my side and looked at me expectantly. "Constance, can I look at your Moon Goddess' mark?"
Every time she came to see me, she would look at my Moon Goddess' mark.
"Of course!" I took off my shirt, revealing an obvious sign of the moon on my chest.
The Moon Goddess personally chose the Saintess. She was born with this moon mark and was regarded as the successor of the Saintess. She was able to talk to the Moon Goddess.
Unfortunately, I only had the Moon Goddess' mark but couldn't talk to the Moon Goddess.
Katy saw my sadness and comforted me, "Don't worry, you have the mark. This means that the Moon Goddess has personally chosen someone. The Moon Goddess will not abandon the child she has chosen."
I smiled bitterly.
Katy purposely changed the topic to make me happy. "Did you know that the northern pack's Alpha personally came to this prayer session?"
I didn't mind the change in topic and replied lightly, "In every prayer session, the Alphas from the surrounding packs would come back. So there's nothing strange about this."
"No! This is the Alpha from the Icefield Pack! The king of the Icefield Pack! It's his first time coming to our pack!" When Katy mentioned the Alpha from the Icefield Pack, her face was filled with admiration. "He's currently the strongest Alpha! No one can defeat him!"
"Declan won't lose to him." I didn't think much of it. Katy always liked to exaggerate when describing other men.
"You said the same thing about the young alpha in the west last time, but Declan beat him to a pulp."
Katy panicked. "This is different!"
"What's this Alpha's name?" I asked casually.
"Terrance."
The name struck me. It was as if I had heard it somewhere before.
"You must meet Terrance when you get the chance! He's the most charming man I've ever met!" Katy said, fascinated. "I wish I could be his mate!"
I scoffed. "The Icefield Pack is no match for Central Pack's warriors!"
Katy didn't argue with me. "You're the Saintess. Of course, you don't care about such things. I wish my mate could be like Terrance!"
I shook my head. Katy's infatuation was hopeless.
If it were me, I would never become a mate with the werewolves of the Icefield Pack. Although they were brave, they were rude and arrogant. They looked down on the werewolf packs outside of their pack.
It was a pity that I was too weak. Otherwise, I would teach these northern werewolves a lesson and show them how brave the girls of the central region were!
"Constance! Look!" Katy suddenly smelled something and ran to the window. She said excitedly, "It's the people of the northern ice field pack!"
I wasn't interested and was about to continue resting when a unique scent filled my nostrils.
Although the scent was weak, it constantly stimulated my nerves. I was suddenly wide awake and sat up from the bed.
I was attracted by the scent and couldn't help but walk to the window barefoot.
"Look! That's Terrance!" Katy was so excited that she wanted to cry.
I looked in the direction she was pointing...
In the crowd, a man in black came into my sight.
He had platinum hair, was tall and strong, and his defined, bronze muscles emitted a dazzling luster.
This man seemed to feel my gaze and suddenly raised his head to look at me.
Even from such a distance, I was shocked by his gaze.
His eyes were like sharp arrows carrying an unknown poison, shooting straight at me.
I stood rooted to the ground as if my feet were nailed in place.
An unprecedented feeling exploded in my heart.
I felt a pang of pain in my chest again, and it became difficult to breathe.
"Constance, what happened to you?" Katy looked at me in horror.
My face must have been very pale, or Katy wouldn't be so frightened.
I tried hard to smile. "Nothing, I'm fine."
Just when I felt that the pain in my chest had reached its limit and that I was about to die, I suddenly felt light, and the pain instantly disappeared.
I leaned against the window and panted heavily.
Outside the window, the members of the Icefield Pack had already left.
A question silently arose in my mind—was my illness related to this Alpha named Terrance?
