Chapter 13 - Affinity

This new life of Axel's had brought him more sorrow than joy till now. He was sort of duped by the old man, though narrowly escaping his clutches. Then there was an issue with his soul rejection, he was paralyzed and then born into a family where he was despised. And by the look of things he was most probably going to face family issues in the future as well.

But now he wanted to focus on the one good thing of this world, the magical elements. To experience the power and magic contained in the building block of energy and the source of all good things in this world. He was sure that if somehow he gained enough power, then there was no need for him to play by the rules of the others.

He now had an opportunity to build and grow, and not simply in the traditional sense of the words but truly build and grow, as with enough power he could become an immortal, like other powerful beings of this mysterious universe.

So whatever steps he took and efforts he made were all for the future. None of his efforts were ever going to go to waste. All these thoughts had made a home in Axel's conscience, also the scientist in him was way too excited for the things to come.

So when Axel asked Gizmo about his elemental affinities, a lot more was riding on the question than it might seem.[Looks like with this we are finally getting started. Axel, as you might have guessed, your soul's biggest inclination is towards the light element, that was the sole reason why that old man was interested in you, cause light is seen as a very rare element and you have a very high affinity for it.

If I had to describe it properly, then your affinity towards light is not just high but also very peculiar.]

Axel was a bit surprised by the new findings, as he could not fathom how he could have a light affinity, when in his previous life he had always been too sensitive to light from his childhood and always preferred to have the lights closed in a room.

'Gizmo, do tell me more and what about my affinity seems peculiar to you?'[Well, I can't pinpoint it myself because I have no record of anything like that, but to oversimplify the phenomenon, it seems that your soul can somehow affect the light element itself.

It is a very peculiar thing because the elements that we know of never showcase this behavior, unless. Or maybe...... Leave it, I don't think that is possible. So that's the gist of your light affinity, but there's more. Due to inheriting the Blair family genes, you have also acquired the thunder affinity.][Whilst your thunder affinity might not be as strong or peculiar in itself, but it's strong by normal standards, your thunder talent might be better than your family's ancestors even, so even that is not to be taken as lightly.

But again, I would recommend you to only focus on one element, as it is those who concentrate on but one thing at a time, who advance in this world.]Axel was happy that he was talented in this new world, but the scope of his talents, he would only discover later when things really start to take shape.

For now, he was happy with what he had got and was ready to cherish the life of a scholar again for the next 5 years of his otherwise mundane life.'I agree with you Gizmo, I can't have my focus be on too many things, but maybe I can somehow find a solution to this much-desired problem, as I hate to be wasteful' Axel surmised. After hearing Gizmo's finding, Axel had a smile plastered on his small face. But due to him being paralyzed on the right side, his smile looked a bit creepy.
