Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Faun

Faun was starting to realise that he was caught in a hopeless situation and his sobbing got louder, he was just trying to live.

He was angry at his helplessness and the fact that there was no one to help.

He didn't want strange humans all over him, trying to get rid of his clothes and licking him strangely.

Declan showed up at this point, expressive horror on his face.

What he wanted to do more than anything then was to turn around and take off, pick up his groceries and lock himself in his cottage.

But the hybrid looked up at him at that moment, tears and a look of despair in his big eyes that wrenched Declan's nonexistent heart.

His body decided for him, grabbing the man that was still yet to notice him, far too engrossed in trying to rape what looked like a child, how sick was he?

He snatched him up by the collar, dragging him off the hybrid.

The man was stunned, his wild eyes settling on Declan. "Tch, you might want to stay out of this, foreigner." The greasy man grumbled, cracking his knuckles.

Declan sighed, glancing at the hybrid who was curled up against a tree trunk. His clothes weren't the best to begin with and now the shameless bastard in front of him had ruined it even further.

He took off his overcoat, he was wearing a sweatshirt underneath and gave it to the shivering hybrid.

The man's eyes turned into glittery slits, charging at Declan when he was distracted.

Declan easily stopped his oncoming punch with a hand, sighing regretfully when he returned the favour.

The man's head snapped backwards, fear and horror in his beady eyes when he realised that he was no match for Declan.

It was too late though, Declan was already irritated, the child was still crying.

The next punch bloodied his knuckles, the man dropping to the ground like a log.

Declan stepped on his gut, applying pressure as he leaned forward with boredom in his grey eyes. "You'll get the fuck out of here and forget that this ever happened or I might just casually decide to find you and finish up where I left off." He threatened calmly.

The man was long ready to do just that, he was just a weak bastard who wanted to exert power over someone clearly weaker than he was.

Declan watched him scramble away, cursing under his breath when he caught sight of his bloodied knuckles. There was no helping that now, he would take a shower when he got home.

He had to stop himself from leaving right after the man, he was curious but not that curious, he didn't need anything upsetting the quiet life he had made for himself.

He didn't get the chance to leave though, the hybrid moved quickly ambushing him from the back and holding on tight.

Declan's eyes widened when he felt thin hands wrap around his middle, the hybrid was taller than he had guessed because his head got to the middle of Declan's back and Declan knew he was tall.

"What are you doing?" He asked cautiously, there was no way the hybrid would know who he was, he had made sure of that.

There was no answer, his hold just got tighter and Declan could feel the hybrid's face mush against his back.

He sighed. "What's your name? Can you speak?" He added as an afterthought.

Faun nodded slowly. "My name is Faun." He said slowly, it was evident that he didn't speak often, his accent strange.

"Come on, get off me." Declan tried to get rid of him, reaching behind him to snatch him up.

The hybrid ducked out of his reach though, making him spin in circles to try and grab him.

Declan's patience was running out, the sun was setting, he should have started up dinner by now.

He reached behind him with purpose this time, snagging the hybrid's arm.

Faun let out a small squeal and in the next moment, he was wrapped around Declan's arm.

"P-Please don't leave me here." The hybrid said in a small voice.

Declan stopped trying to push the hybrid away, staring down into a small, freckled face with glassy, big green eyes staring up at him.

That was the last thing he had been expected to hear, the hybrid thought he was human right? So why?

He expected the hybrid to run off as soon as he could but he wouldn't be surprised if that scumbag of a man was waiting in the woods for him to do just that.

He glanced down at the hybrid hanging off his arm, he said his name was Faun. Quite the odd name.

He had a wild mass of long red gold hair, it looked like fire in the light of the setting sun and it framed his delicate face.

He could almost see how he could have been mistaken for a girl but that was where the similarities stopped, the creepy, perverted man knew exactly what he was doing.

He sighed for the umpteenth time. "Fine, now let go of me." He said in a steady voice.

Faun obeyed immediately, not wanting the human to change his mind.

He was going against his nature by doing this but he needed to survive, he just needed the human's help to get him to the North and he would be on his way.

He looked the human over, he looked very different from the other human and Faun knew that if this human tried to do anything to him, there was no escaping.

But he had beat up another human to protect him, literally saving him, it was just for a short while, he would have to trust him till then.

"You can call me Declan, my cottage is close by, come along, it's starting to get dark." Declan invited the hybrid, watching him as they started off.

There was a bruise on his face that was fast fading and he was hunched over in his coat.

He frowned when he noticed that Faun was walking with a very noticeable limp, what was he doing? How did he even get here?

Faun had to fight the urge to stare up at the tall human, he was constantly putting his hands in his black hair, a blank look on his face.

Faun didn't think this was the smartest decision he had ever made but he had no other options.
