PIERCE'S POV
This kid was not what I was expecting at all.
Amber was pretty, I knew she wasn't popular but I didn't think she'd hang out with emo faggots like this.
Not that I'm complaining, I didn't know much about the kid yet so I wasn't going to make any judgements.
"Listen just give me your number and we can text like normal people, I'm sorry about..." he paused for a second, his straight iron fried tow head covering one of his hazel green eyes as he spoke.
"Her..." he gestured towards one of the doors at the end of the hallway. I was confused, he was sorry about the door?
Then I heard giggling and shuffling behind said door before a lock of wine red hair flashed across the window.
Amber and that other kid must have been behind the door watching us.
I didn't really understand why she refused to just give me the guy's contact info, she wouldn't even tell me his name and now she's spying on us?
I racked my brain for something cocky to say but my chamber was empty. I sighed.
"Here." I handed him my phone. His hand brushed against mine as he grabbed it from me. His palm was sweaty, and his fingers trembled slightly, I should have been weirded out but I wasn't.
I enjoyed knowing that I made him feel things, was it flattery? He was stroking my ego, yeah that's it.
After a moment he handed me back the phone. This time taking more care to avoid touching our hands together.
I slid the phone into my pocket before taking his eyes into my gaze again.
I don't know why but I seemed to be subconsciously applying my charm to him just like I would to a girl.
Probably because he was gay, nothing to do with me.
"So tell me about it." I crossed my arms as I said this, subtly flexing my biceps a bit. I noticed him gulp. I internally smirked.
"About what?"
"The dog thing you do."
He looked away again, as if eye contact with me were tiring. He pulled at his black band tee nervously.
"It's a dog rescue, and it's pretty self explanatory, we rescue dogs."
I didn't like him being snarky with me. Snarky asshole was my job. And the fact that he could still steal my job while being flustered was annoying.
I contemplated my next move for a second. I didn't know exactly what I wanted. That was a weird feeling for me. I was Pierce Pak, I always knew what I wanted, and I always got it.
Suddenly my body moved without me thinking. My palms slammed into the wall just above either side of his head, to where I had him somewhat pinned to the wall.
I looked into his eyes. He wasn't scared or flustered, this made me mad.
I had him stammering without even doing anything just a minute ago and now that I was trying to intimidate him he suddenly felt nothing?
"Don't be smart with me." I gruffed.
He looked up at me, his hazel green eyes filled with excitement.
How dare he be excited, I was trying to intimidate him! His rosy lips parted into a smirk. That was the last straw.
I re-slammed my hands into the wall. I got nothing but an eyebrow raise.
"You do realize your acting pretty gay right?"
I slid my hands off the wall and stepped back in shock. He was right, what the hell had gotten into me?
Suddenly the hallway door swung open and in walked Amber followed by that other kid, the one with the Afro and the prosthetic legs.
"Pierce what the hell." She laughed, her hands on her knees. She really wasn't kidding when she said she got tired easy, it was merely 100 feet from here to the door.
"I'm just messing with him relax." I placed my hand on the back of my neck as I said this, I hoped to god my nonchalant voice was convincing enough because on the inside I was furious.
Oscar folded his arms when he caught up to Amber. His usual scowl deepened.
"Well you need to stop." Demanded Oscar, his voice was nasally and annoying. I already hated him.
Amber's eyes flicked back and forth between me and Caleb before a mischievous smirk crept upon her cinnamon complexion.
"Why don't we bring him to the kennels."
Caleb shot a glare at her.
"I have his number now we can plan his first volunteer session later."
Amber rolled her eyes.
"Nah I wanna see this famous rescue." The words escaped my mouth before I could catch them. I glanced at Caleb he sighed dramatically again.
"Whatever, let's go." He bumped into Amber as he passed her. She stumbled away dramatically before slyly following him. I started walking behind them, Oscar behind me.
AMBER'S POV
Maybe I was being cruel by doing this to Caleb but he really needed to get out of his comfort zone.
I wasn't going to tell anyone because it wasn't my place but I knew Pierce wasn't straight and I had a hunch that Caleb would grow on him.
How do I know Pierce isn't straight? Well other than my impeccable gay-dar I also had evidence.
You see as soon as Caleb had drunkenly spilled about his little crush I knew I had a mission.
I started testing Pierce.
"You ever watched Sean and Cody?"
He slammed his chrome book shut a look of guilt and shock in his eyes.
"What the fuck are you talking about?!"
I grinned before putting on my innocent face.
"Zack and Cody, didn't you watch them when you were a kid?"
No straight guy would recognize that name. I know your wondering, how do YOU know that name Amber?
Well let's just say I have a lot of gay friends who are VERY comfortable with me. If you don't share your favorite porn with your besties are you really besties?
I knew if he recognized that name that he was at least questioning. One point Amber, zero points Pierce.
I tested him a couple other ways as well, asking him his celebrity crushes and watching him struggle to name a random female singer, teasing him about being gay so I could read his levels of defensiveness on the subject.
Not to mention the way he looked at his girlfriend when she kissed him in biology class.
His face always riddled with confusion and disgust. It always took him a second to put on his straight guy facade and pretend to love her.
I felt bad for her, Hailey she was a nice girl she didn't deserve to be used.
We walked out of the school the hot Florida air clinging to my skin. It was dark out, normally we'd call an Uber or call Oscar's mom to come pick us up.
But Pierce was a giant, he wasn't visibly gay and he wasn't female. So our chances of being messed with were lowered.
I shuffled along the sidewalk next to Oscar, Caleb and Pierce were ahead of us.
You bet I was gonna make Caleb take care of Pierce, he was gonna walk his crush to the kennels and show him around like a big boy.
Oscar shot me a look.
"What?"
"Why are you doing this?" He whispered as he continued to limp across the sidewalk his fake legs clicking against the ground as he went.
I groaned.
"Oscar I know your protective of him but it's about time he had some fun."
Oscar looked away from me gluing his eyes to the sidewalk.
"But why some asshole like Pierce."
I threw my arm around Oscar's shoulder, he was quite a bit taller than me despite only being five foot nine (I'm a short queen don't at me).
"We won't leave them alone together for a while how bout that?"
Oscar sighed.
"Ok." He agreed reluctantly.
