Chapter 14 - Pursuing the Woman

He was well aware that he wasn't good at expressing his emotions and feelings and just like what happened a while back, Cassandra thought that he was only talking about money, but he wasn't.

"What should I do now? Should I look for another woman to be my fiancée?" While driving away from Milly's shop, he reassured himself, "But the people at the Secret Tavern already knew about Cassandra. I can't just grab someone to be with me during the wedding." He protested once more. "Argh! This is quite frustrating!" He roared in fury, and he was even delayed in traffic congestion, making him even angrier.

He tried to call his real fiancee over the phone, but he still couldn't contact her at all. "Damn it all." He exclaimed, then he threw his phone on the shotgun seat. It had been a few days or even weeks since the last time that he talked to her, but he wasn't nervous about it because she was always like that.

His fiancee, Astrid, was really a busy woman and couldn't make time for him most of the time but he understood her.

Just after an hour, Greyson finally arrived at a flower shop downtown. He just found himself talking to the old lady who was arranging the flowers. She was wearing a bucket hat and black boots.

"I need a bouquet of flowers with tulips as the main flower," he said in a low tone. Greyson had finally calmed down from his frustrations and thought of just buying a bouquet of flowers.

"Coming right up, gentleman." The old lady said, laughing all by herself. She seemed nice to him, but she was just a bit weird. Greyson looked around the city and downtown sure was busy today.

It only took the old lady less than five minutes to arrange the bouquet, so she handed it over to him right away. "Here it is, young man. Hold it very carefully." She said with such a meaningful smile.

Greyson wanted to ask her why she was acting that way, but his shyness was getting over him. The old lady was surely a bit strange, so he didn't bother to ask anymore.

"How much is it?" He asked instead.

"Oh, just a hundred bucks." She answered as the bright smile on her face remained.

"It seemed like you're in a good mood, granny." Greyson couldn't help but ask the old lady, then he showed a faint smile on his lips.

"Well, yes. I am."

"May I know why?" He asked once more.

"It's been a while since someone bought tulips in my shop and I can't hide my happiness. It's my favorite flower, but people tend to ignore it and would always choose the roses." She explained, smiling.

Greyson didn't know about it at first because of course, he just found himself buying the flowers and first thought of the tulips. "W-Well, it caught my attention. They're nature's finest and I see that they blossomed perfectly." He said.

The old lady nodded her head once, then a blissful curve on her lips as shown. "Tulips' most well-known connotation is pure and profound love. They have been associated with the concept of love for generations since they are a classic flower that has been appreciated by many. They're excellent for giving to someone you adore, whether it's your partner, children, parents, or siblings."

He wasn't sure about it, but he felt as if he was enchanted by the old lady's words. "Pure and profound love?" He asked.

She nodded continuously and said, "Mm-hmm, she's a lucky lady." The old lady waved her hands to Greyson until he got into his car.

It felt as if he got the motivation to bring that bouquet of flowers to Cassandra. Greyson looked at the flowers that had a color combination of lilac, pastel pink, and white which were so pleasing to the eye. He gently put down the bouquet on the shotgun seat and he buckled his seatbelt, then he began to drive his way to Harpers' residence.

"Okay, here we go." He told himself as he let out a deep sigh.

*DING DONG DING DONG*

"Incoming!" A familiar voice answered in a high-pitched tone of voice, then just a few more seconds, the door opened and there Cassandra appeared. "We're not accepting guests here." She rolled her eyes heavenwards and attempted to close the door, but Greyson stopped the door with his foot.

Cassandra gave him a death glare and her arms were crossed across her chest. "What do you want, Greyson? The contract is already terminated." She told him in a crotchety manner.

"This is for you. I bought this at an old lady downtown and she told me that the lady I will be giving this to is a beautiful one." He said, pretending that the old lady really said that. "Please, accept this for her. She's a really nice old lady." He added, handing the bouquet over to her.

Cassandra just looked at the flowers, then at Greyson. "An old lady? The one who is wearing a bucket hat and a pair of black boots?" She asked with her forehead creased.

"Yes, exactly that old woman." He said,

"Okay, I will accept these flowers for her." Cassandra took the flowers from Greyson, then she smelled them. "Thank you, I appreciate it. Tulips are my favorite flower. It calms me every time."

Greyson heaved out a sigh, then he said, "Thank you." He said, then the surrounding suddenly became too awkward. "Ahem." he cleared his throat. "I am really sorry for what I said at the bridal shop. I just want what's best for you during the wedding although it's a fake marriage. It's just that, I know that there is still a dress that best suits you."

He looked Cassandra in her eyes and said, "I-I just find your body beautiful and I think if we order a custom-made dress, you will perfectly execute it." Greyson said, as his cheeks turned crimson red unknowingly.

Cassandra was taken aback by his words and she wasn't expecting him to say those from a billionaire. Her face was slowly feeling hot and he knew that she was blushing. Even though she didn't say anything, she knew to herself that she was moved by his words.
