Chapter 68 - Returning

It had been three nights and Theo still had not emerged from the tree.

David was beside himself. He had spent that time pacing, worrying, unsure about what to do and how to help his best friend and their future Alpha.

He was tempted to go into the portal to scout the place out. It took everything in him not to do it. If he did, he might make things worse for Theo—assuming he was still alive to make things worse for. Theo was already in this mess because of Gia. David didn't want to add to it and create another scenario in which Theo had to save one of them.

And if David didn't return back home, he knew Gia wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut. Should she keep her mouth shut? Was it truly the best thing—to keep something so big from their pack and from Graeme and August? He wasn't sure what the answer was. But if they were meant to continue keeping this a secret, he would need to return to convince Gia that it was, in fact, the right thing to do.
