The fire was lit, licking the dark sky above everyone's heads, and Cora watched it. The full moon was hiding behind clouds and not immediately visible, but it was there somewhere. It was present, hiding just beyond… always there, always wise, always shielding and watching.
"This is nice," she said, leaning into Theo who was sitting on the ground next to her. Finally, the excitement from the battle earlier had started to wane. Someone came by to offer moonwine, and Cora gave Theo an odd look.
"We don't need any. Thank you," he smiled and chuckled when Cora continued staring at him after the male with the mugs left. "It is a traditional drink, but trust me… we don't need any tonight. There has been enough excitement. Let the rest of them enjoy it. All I want is some peace with you. My rowdy full moon days are over."
"I know," she said, glancing back up at the sky. "After everything today, I am ready for some peace and quiet, too. I'm exhausted."
