Theo was in a room in the medical wing of the pack house with David and Bells. She was unconscious with some serious injuries that were being attended to by the healers on duty, and David was trying his very best not to fall apart as he watched over her.
"She is going to be okay, David. She will heal," Theo said quietly, knowing that it was not enough. It was not enough that she would heal—she was terribly injured. She was hurt now, and Theo couldn't help but be grateful that it was not him having to fret over an injured Cora.
He couldn't imagine being in David's position, and he would have been—he would have been if David had not dove in front of Cora when one of the rival wolves was midair, seconds away from tackling her. Theo's hands curled into fists at his sides as he relived it in his mind—the realization that Cora was the target of an attack and that he was too far away to stop it from happening.
