August found where Sage and Cora were huddled together doing their best to keep her mother at bay by manipulating the nature that surrounded her. She continued to break through their barriers, and they continued to raise them. But gradually she was gaining ground.
"Has she attacked anyone?" August asked with concern. "Has she hurt anyone in the pack?"
"No, not yet," Sage told her. "But she broke open the dome so that the other lycans could."
"She is just looking for me. I need to speak to her. I can end this. I do not believe she is a true threat—at least not directly."
August watched the wooded walls that Sage had erected and the unfamiliar species of vine that must have originated from Cora. Her mother was in there. She couldn't see her, but she was there. And she hadn't seen her in over twenty years.
