"Your monster wants to protect Cora?" Sage repeated.
"Yes," Gia said. "Well, Cora and August. The Lunas. He wants to protect our Lunas, but it was Cora… I don't know why her, but she was the one to release him. Maybe it is too late for August…" she trailed off, wrapping her arms around herself again.
Sage shook his head, not understanding. It was hard to follow everything that she was saying. "What do you mean? Why do you think he wants to protect them?"
The monster was a threat… that is what he understood from when it was haunting Gia's dreams. They had buried it because it was a threat, but if it was meant to protect… what did that mean? Did they make a mistake?
Gia rubbed her face, her eyes pooling with tears again. "He has shown me things. Things I don't want to know."
