"Welcome to the Sacred Circle, Cora," Charlotte said in her wise, deep voice as all of the females gathered around. She held her arms out, wishing to embrace the future Luna who looked so haunted.
It broke Charlotte's heart that Cora and Theo were having to endure this. No one imagined how difficult it would truly end up being. On Cora's part, it was a sacrifice to stay this way—as a vampire—in order to help defend their pack when the time came. But in Charlotte's mind, this did not have the signature of the Goddess on it. It felt wrong to keep the mates from one another.
She knew that August agreed with her as did many others, but there was no telling their young future Luna that she did not have to sacrifice herself for the pack or for the possible threat against August's life. It was not something she would allow herself to hear, because the possibility that the pack or August would be in greater danger was too important to turn away from.
