Theo was standing at the back door staring out into the back woods, thinking about how he was going to deal with his future Beta lying right to his face without batting an eyelash. There was no excuse. It didn't matter if David had thought that it was important—he should have just come straight to Theo with the truth about his concerns rather than lying and involving his mother.
"He was playing on my family's weakness," Theo squinted into the sunlight, swallowing roughly. "David knew if he brought up my mother that my father would intervene in the way he was hoping. How could he do that? How could he think that was okay?"
