Sage was deep into the underground cave when his hairs suddenly stood on end as if alerting him to the presence of others. He froze, checking whether the enchantment was still in place, and it was. No one should be able to see them if they were here, but something felt wrong.
Gia, who had wandered into the cave behind him, picked up on his alarm right away.
"What is it?" She asked, her hairs prickling just as his had.
"I don't know. It feels like someone is watching us. But that should be impossible," he said, opening his arm to invite her closer to him.
She stepped over the craggy, mossy ground with its gentle glow. It felt like they were truly in another world—some place other than Gray Vale.
"This place feels like what I imagined a fae dimension to be. Except I imagined it above ground and with sun," she thought aloud, arriving finally in Sage's arms.
