Once Sage freed Zagan from the cloaking enchantment, he created a portal for the rest of them that opened up to the grounds behind the palace. This was a place that both Gia and Sage had been before, but at the time there wasn't the large garden that Cora had created.
In the waning gray light, the exterior of Cora's garden appeared as shades of dark blue and green. It reminded Theo of a dim version of her eyes.
"Wow," Gia gasped as they all approached the tall ivy hedges, walking around its border to find the door.
A deep ache struck Theo in the center of his chest that made him almost groan out loud. He remembered when Cora brought him here. It was right before she sent him to the Carolina woods. She took him into the far corner to her secret place tucked away where no one would think to look.
