Penelope was sitting in Cora's room, watching her daughter continue to stare out the window. She couldn't seem to tear her eyes away from whatever terrifying site was out there. It was like she was watching a natural disaster unfolding.
"They are just staring?" She asked again.
"Yes. It is so creepy, mom. I can't even tell you…" Cora said without turning away.
The Camazotz had stayed frozen in the air, but their attention had moved as the last carriage rolled down the drive. Their heads rotated, following that last carriage, and then their gazes stayed on the palace. They were frozen, staring at the palace. They had never done that before.
"Maybe you should stop watching them," Penelope swallowed back the lump in her throat.
