Chapter 158 - Upside Down

"It was my first kiss," Cora had admitted to Grayson earlier in the day, and now she was lying in bed replaying that conversation in the garden over and over in her mind. 

"Mine, too," he had replied, his throat bobbing and an innocent desire to feel something like love suddenly causing a light to begin glowing in the dark vampiric aura he was normally cloaked in. The Veiled brought it to her attention—his dark sky beginning to blink to life with small pinpoints of stars that grew brighter when she held his gaze.

Now Cora felt guilty. She had sparked some kind of beautiful, important hope inside of Grayson that was starting to fight the empty black of his nature, but it was a hope that she could never fulfill. 

How had she landed herself in this position? Feeling as if she was betraying two men at once? And she hadn't even done anything wrong!
