August placed a hand on Gia's shoulder and led both of them further down the hallway.
"Do you remember anything about what they wanted?" August asked. "Or how they got you out there?"
"I got a call from David that there was a pup missing from Lakeside," Gia said slowly, searching her memory. The fog that had clouded her mind before had worn off now, and everything was clearer. "He told me to go in to Suicide Forest to look. That there were already plenty of people looking within Lakeside. He didn't want to send anyone outside the perimeter but me, and he said he would meet me out there."
