When Grayson ushered Cora in to Ambrosia's private study, it was empty. He gestured to a chair in the middle of the room with three others positioned around it, indicating that he wished for her to sit there by him while they waited. She walked to the window instead.
This was it. She was either going to be straight with the Queen of all nine vampire realms or she was going to lie and play her own part in this act of theater in which no one said what they meant and all was obscured by competing desires.
Ambrosia desired control and power. Cora desired freedom, safety for her family, and her mate. And Grayson… well who knew what Grayson desired?
She glanced back at him and away from the dense white thorny shrubs outside the window. That was certainly a question. Grayson obviously did what Her Majesty the Queen wished, but why was he helpful? Why was he not cruel like his brother?
