"What? That's impossible!" Cora said fiercely, forgetting the fear that Rayth's touch had created. "Everything I have grown has stayed within the garden!"

"I wish that were true," he replied, a low rattling depth returning to his tone. If she had forgotten that this vampire was not living, the terror of that death rattle in his voice was enough of a reminder. 

"That doesn't make any sense," she muttered angrily. Was Wright making up stories? Was this some kind of setup so that Rayth would be allowed to punish her?

"I didn't realize that sense factors so much into that fae magic of yours. Floating petals in the ballroom, flowers appearing out of thin air, vines covering the dining room walls… not to mention the flowers that look like ancient demons. Does any of that make sense?"
