Cora had gone still in Theo's arms, and if he didn't know any better, he would think she was a corpse. She was so cold and gray—gray just like this place. But he could still feel her there inside of him like an unfulfilled promise.
There must be something that he could do to help her. She was so incredibly strong. It was truly amazing how she had somehow refused the blood that her brother brought for her and hadn't given in to the lure of a living animal with a beating heart even though she was now a vampire. She didn't seem swayed at all to consider Theo that way—as a meal and as a prey animal like her brother clearly did.
But she was so weak. She needed something. And she didn't want him to leave. Would it be wrong of him to mark her when she wasn't aware of it?
