Lexus thought that deep inside, Anna disliked him now due to all the rumors she heard at the reunion. As such, he was tense during the whole drive home. She had also remained silent and the expression on her face didn't look good. He was too scared to ask so he waited for her to talk.
He had enjoyed her praises for him at the reunion but she may have been just saying those since they were husband and wife now. She may have felt obligated to defend him and make everyone think he was a good husband. Still, he was happy that at least she was considerate of him.
When she began to cry, he thought she would say something like asking for divorce now that she heard he was a violent person. But instead, Anna apologized.
Lexus was so relieved that he had misunderstood her yet again. And he was happy that Anna thought so much about how he felt that she was even apologizing for choosing the island for their honeymoon.
