Surprise Meeting
"You've moved, Wen?" said Nina. At that time Arwen and her three friends Nina, Choa, and Yuki were chatting in the cafeteria.
"Yes, last night I moved."
"Then where is it?" asked Yuki.
"My aunt's boarding house. Nice place, but mostly just college students."
"Wow, that's good, Wen. May I meet your friends? Is there anyone handsome?" Choa exclaimed with sparkling eyes.
"There is. Hafiz is also boarding there."
BRAK!
Yuki suddenly pounded the table which made the three friends immediately startled.
"What are you doing now?"
Yuki hurriedly apologized. "Uh, sorry. But if I'm not mistaken? You mean Hafiz is the basketball captain?"
"That's true. But please don't make a fuss!"
"You know I'm a fan."
"Yes, but take it easy."
"You two are making a fuss. Look! We're a spectacle now," said Nina, who immediately covered her face in embarrassment because the other children turned their heads towards them because of the behavior of these two friends.
"Sorry. But are you really in the same boarding house with Hafiz?"
"Yeah, right, why? You don't have to be a hot worm. Don't be like those stupid girls. After all, I'm only in the same house, not in the same room as Hafiz."
Arwen was a little annoyed. Because she knows Yuki idolizes Hafiz as much as she idolizes artists. And Arwen regrets a little because now Yuki is gathering the courage to meet Hafiz.
Seeing Yuki's unfavorable condition, Arwen chooses to run away temporarily with Nina who is also uncomfortable with Yuki who keeps talking about Hafiz. Surprisingly, Choa was still strong enough to hear everything from her best friend.
"Arwen!"
Arwen and Nina who were walking down the corridor on the first floor turned to where the voice came from. Seen a tall boy with slightly blond hair running, who else besides Harry, one of their other friends.
"Arwen wait!"
"What are you doing? Are you being chased by a sissy?" said Nina.
"This is worse than a sissy. You'd better come with me now!"
"What is it?"
"You just asked Arwen, Har? I didn't count?"
"Sorry, Nin, this is a student council problem."
Arwen's eyebrows rose. "Is there something wrong with the student council?"
"Just come along, Jinu is calling for you!"
Harry immediately grabbed Arwen's hand. The girl simply gave up, while Nina looked annoyed to be left alone.
Arwen and Harry are active students and both student council members. Especially Arwen who served as the student council representative since the 2nd grade of high school along with Jinu Alexander who became the student council president.
Arwen and Jinu often seem to get along well as they get along well and also have great influence at school. But Arwen never took him seriously, unlike Jinu who had secretly loved Arwen for a long time.
Ten minutes passed, and in the student council room, Arwen looked at Jinu's face which looked serious and angry. He doesn't usually look like that. There is also Yohana (secretary) and Nana (treasurer). They both looked down with gloomy faces.
"What's wrong? Why are you so tensed?" Arwen asked confused.
"The student council money is gone, Wen."
The answer managed to make Arwen's eyes widen.
"How come? Nana?" Arwen immediately turned to Nana because she was the student council, the case manager. Nana just looked down.
"Sorry, Wen. I was careless, last time I put it in the student council drawer. Yesterday when I came back it was still there, but this morning I checked it was gone with my wallet. I've looked everywhere but nothing. I do not find it."
"Why? Usually, you take it home right? Why is it stored in the student council room?"
"Yeah, but I think it's safer to keep it in the student council room. Besides, there's a key."
"But Na, anyone can enter this room. Even though it's locked, we don't know the intentions of people who might know the money is there."
Nana lowered her head to hear Arwen's words.
"Sorry."
"You don't need to apologize Na. The treasurer's job is tough, we shouldn't corner each other. As if you could be a better treasurer than Nana." Yohana answered in a voice that seemed to mock Arwen.
"I'm not cornering her. But since Nana is in charge, she needs to be more careful. If I were the treasurer, there's no way I could leave that much money in the student council room."
Hearing Arwen's answer, Yohana was silent. But her face showed a displeased expression. Since the first Arwen and Yohana often do not get along. The two of them always disagree about everything. Jinu sometimes likes to make him dizzy, because he has to be the middleman between two girls who often don't want to budge.
However, this time Arwen's words had a point. Nana was careless and caused the collected money to disappear somewhere. Even though the Prom night is just around the corner. Harry then suggests looking at the school's CCTV.
Jinu agreed, then they agreed to look at the CCTV after school later. Because the school bell has rung. Jinu also explained not to tell anyone about this incident until he knew for sure who stole the money.
*****
That afternoon Arwen came home with a sullen face. The cold expression on her face that she used to show when something was bothering her. Harry had offered to take her home, but Arwen had refused. Now she chooses to go home on foot and shift her steps to her favorite used bookstore. Arwen is getting annoyed because the book she ordered entitled The Trio of Detectives doesn't exist.
"Is the book I ordered missing?"
"I'm not lying. Series 28 and 30 are still empty. When there is, I'll let you know," explained the shop owner with a serious face, while Arwen was still grinning in annoyance.
"Okay, I'll just take a look at the others," she said, leaving the shopkeeper smiling as he counted the money in his hands.
Arwen circled the rows of shelves that had quite a collection of books, especially old books. Since the 1st grade of high school, this shop has been a regular for her, because Arwen likes old novels. And used books are usually sold at cheap prices. This shop not only sells but also rents, so when Arwen's pocket money runs low she often rents books here.
Arwen saw a row of books belonging to Agatha Christie who is also one of her favorites. Her hands were busy sorting and reading each book title. To be honest, Arwen has almost read all of her series, only a few haven't. Because the books are hard to find.
"Still crazy about novels?"
The gentle welcome made Arwen jump a little. Especially when she turned to a man she knew very well. The normal heartbeat is now fast and irregular. What's more, the man now showed a sweet smile that she hadn't seen in a long time.
"Juna?"
The man named Juna waved his hand slowly. "Hey Wen, how are you? Didn't expect to meet you here."
The atmosphere became silent. Arwen herself was still trying to control his heartbeat which continued to soar erratically. It was nothing, but this man who was standing one meter in front of her had been gone for 2 years. And now he had suddenly appeared before her without any warning. This took Arwen by surprise.
Arwen and Juna have known each other since childhood. To be precise, their house was next door, and their parents had also been good friends for a long time. Juna is a person who will always be there for Arwen, a person who has always been her best friend and Arwen is very comfortable with that. People often think of them as brothers, but not infrequently they think they are dating.
Juna's sweet treatment continued even though they had started to grow up. Arwen, who has begun to understand what feelings and love are, begins to interpret togetherness and Juna's treatment of her as something more than just sisters and friends. Yes, Arwen started to like Juna.
But suddenly the man left without saying goodbye when Arwen realized her feelings. Juna moved to Kalimantan with his family, and their house in Jakarta is now for sale. Arwen began to lose contact, for almost 2 years she did not know the man.
Arwen began to be active in various activities and became a member of the student council. Slowly she began to forget the figure of Juna, although it cannot be forgotten. Their memories are too much and the time it takes is also quite long. Then suddenly recently Juna started contacting her again, and now the man was standing right in front of her with an increasingly dazzling face and look.
"Since when have you been in Jakarta?" Arwen opened the conversation after a moment of silence between them. Arwen glanced at the man. She wanted to hug him, she wanted Juna to know how much she missed him all this time. But for some reason, Arwen felt that there was a great distance between her and Juna. Those 2 years beat their ten years together. And all Arwen was doing now was just standing there.
"It's been 8 months Wen."
Hearing that answer made Arwen's face immediately disappointed. It had been that long, and Juna had never seen her.
Juna who saw the disappointed look on Arwen's face suddenly approached and pulled Arwen's head gently to his chest. Arwen flinched for a moment, but she remained silent.
"I miss you, Wen, miss you so much!" Juna closed his eyes and gently stroked Arwen's hair.
"If you miss why don't you look for me? If we don't meet in this place, you won't look for me either, right?" Arwen said as he slowly released herself from the hug she didn't want to let go of.
Juna smiled faintly. "I'm sorry Wen. It's not that I don't want to see you, but I've been busy transferring colleges. And I meant to meet you at the right time."
"I don't know what the exact time was? Yesterday you contacted me, but the answer was that you are still in Kalimantan. I don't know what you think of me, it seems you forgot that we were very close when we were little. You moved to Kalimantan and just leave."
Arwen couldn't hold back all her feelings. Juna who heard it fell silent, a trace of guilt visible on his face. But again he just apologized.
"Sorry, Wen. My parents have a problem that I can't tell you about. But I promise to tell you everything. When will we meet again?"
Juna looked at Arwen deeply as if asking for an answer. But again Arwen was silent. And before Arwen could answer, another male voice answered from behind Juna.
"Just refuse!"
They both turned to see the figure of a tall, brown-skinned man. The man smirked as he looked at Juna, showing a smile that was so sweet and pleasing to the eye.
"Damn you!" said Juna annoyed.
"Besides, I was busy looking for a book, you teased a girl instead," he said as he threw a thick book at Juna, which he quickly caught. His gaze now turned to Arwen, the man thought, tilting his head.
This person was somewhat familiar and made Arwen remember what happened last night when Arwen met this man in front of his room. Yes, he was the man whose room was right in front of Arwen's.
"Eh, you're the new boarding house girl?" He said before Arwen opened his mouth.
"Yes, that's right."
"You two know each other?" Juna asked.
"No, I just met her. She's the new boarding house girl at my boarding house. I'm Regan." Regan stretched out his hand which Arwen immediately greeted.
"Arwen Julia."
"You live in Violet's boarding house, Wen?" Juna couldn't hide his surprised expression.
"Yes."
"Because he likes hanging out at boarding house," Regan said.
"Really? Very close," replied Arwen sarcastically. Regan who didn't know anything could only whisper in his heart when Juna suddenly stepped on his big toe. He glared in annoyance but immediately understood after knowing Juna's instructions.
Juna intends to bring Arwen home. But the girl firmly refused. Her feelings have been turbulent since earlier, plus her meeting with Juna did not brighten her heart, it was even more chaotic.
The girl is now walking towards the boarding house with Regan. The man was reluctant, but Juna forced him to accompany Arwen home.
