The door and walls of the safety room are tough to break through, and there's ample food and water inside.
It appears as if they could hold out for maybe ten days or half a month without a problem. The pirates outside are helpless.
But even the hardest "turtle shell" has a way of being cracked open.

The people inside still have to breathe, right? The air flow from the gap under the door and such is nowhere near enough. Plus, considering safety issues, there are no windows either, hence the specially designed ventilation hole.
Despite its small diameter and specially designed construction, it's impossible for anyone to squeeze in through this hole.
But the pirates still have their own methods.
