After chatting for a while longer, Wang Ye heard his father's voice downstairs indicating he had just returned from his drive.
He quickly bid his friends goodbye in the chat group before logging off.
He went downstairs and was immediately greeted by his father, who was in high spirits.
"Xiaoye, come have lunch with me. Uncle Li…he is Director Li, heard you came back and wants to see you. His nephew is graduating from high school next year. The kid's grades are average, so he's considering studying abroad. So Director Li wants to treat you to a meal and ask you some questions about Russia."
The "Director Li" that his father was referring to was the current Director of the County Food Bureau, his father's former superior.
Wang Ye was reasonably familiar with this person, though he didn't care much for him.
