Her pants were loose with many pockets, and she carried a plain little pack on her back, her hand gripping a device that resembled an iron. She was embroiled in some dispute with two people, both at least a head taller than her, and they were arguing fiercely about something.
But because the three of them were essentially talking over each other, with their voices mingling and growing louder, Russell couldn't understand a word.
Russell could tell at a glance that the girl's small pack had enough space to accommodate the "halo."
