After the group rests, they decided to leave the 4th Floor and ascend to the 5th Floor where at the time, the place was not as dangerous as expected.
" Wha... what happened here? " Jack says after seeing many corpses of Demonic Monsters lying around the place.
As he and all of the Hunters in the group explored the sections on the 5th Floor, they begin to notice the reason why the Floor felt so empty, because...
" All of the monsters are dead!!! " Ragna says loudly as he then shouts to the others who also check the surroundings if there are some monsters around which they replied that the monsters they've found are also dead which shocks all of them as they regroup.
" I can't believe it, do you also see what happened to the monsters? " said Hunter Tricia as she sheathe her sword back.
" What? the monster you've found is dead too? " Jack says as he checks the monster corpse nearby as he hears no pulse from it, completely.
" Even worse, Jack... " Tricia says as she then calls for the others to regroup to accompany her to see the monster corpse she just found.
As they all regrouped, they began to see the monster corpse that Tricia mentioned, a monster corpse with a missing limb (hand), as the hand was ripped apart from it but the limb that was just being ripped apart, can't be found.
Seeing that, Jack who understands medics immediately checks and investigates the corpse as he can see the wound is so sharp and deduces.
" The limb of this monster had already been eaten," he says as he shows the wound that looks like a Large Bite Wound.
" This kind of wound could've been inflicted by a large prefatorial monster that could also eat another monster when hungry... "
" I've seen these kinds of wounds before, from my patients... " Jack said while taking a sample from the corpse and taking a photo of the corpse with his Camera and Phone Camera.
"( If I'll survive, I will further inspect these photos further... )" he says as he walks further to every section of the 5th Floor with the Group. After exploring near the end of the 5th Floor, they begin to be confused as all the monsters they've found are dead and literally lifeless while also having a missing limb in each part of their bodies.
" Arms, Legs, Tails.... "
" Is it just me, or why did I feel that whoever did this to the monsters had a hobby of eating limbs? " Tricia wonders as she feels like whatever monster that did this had some kind of a unique appetite or...
" Could the monster that did this have some kind of intelligence...? " Tricia then adds another question.
" What makes you say so? " Galen then asks, finally returning from being silent again.
" Look at the monster that it killed, I know these kinds of monsters... "
" For example the Swordraptor here who lost its hands, the limb that is the monster's very main weapon as they had sword claws and hand sabers that they could use to slash its enemies with heavy strikes. "
" Second, look at the Thornkylosaurus that lost its thorned tail, that it could use to whip and kill an enemy in an instant. "
As she shows them her observation, all of them especially Jack who had medical training grow concerned about the culprit, the killer of these monsters. Not because he imagined, the scary form of the monster who did this, but because he was thinking of something else.
"( This way of killing,.. ) "
"( If it's true that a monster did this, then the monster should've eaten the corpses whole and left only the bones in the ground. )"
"( But instead, the monster only eats the parts of bodies that contained the monster's natural weapons...? )"
"( No this is not right. )"
"( No monster couldn't think of this, there is none in the world a monster so intelligent could do these things... )"
"( Unless.... )" Jack begins to connect and associate his findings as he then tells the others to immediately leave the floor and ascend to the 6th Floor which the others find to be a good idea.
" Hey Ragna, what are you doing? "
" Let's go!!! " Inquisitor Kara said while Ragna is opening the System and sees that there is no item that he could pick from these dead bodies, which is a usual thing that happened while in the Raid.
"( There's no item left that the System could extract from the Corpses? )"
"( How the hell it could be? )" Ragna says while the System shows.
< There's no item to be extracted... >
"( Something's not right, even before I enter the Tower, I can still obtain items from Preyed monsters' corpses... )"
"( But you're saying that there's no item that could be extracted? here? )"
"( How about some [Black Shadows]? )"
"( Is there a Shadow that could be extracted from the monsters? )" Ragna asks.
< There is no Black Shadow that could be extracted, the corpse had no Soul Energy left in this world. >
"( No way, what the hell? )" Ragna still wonders about it, until Inquisitor Kara had to pull him to follow the others as they had no choice but to ascend into the 6th Floor and clear that place.
[ Minutes later. ]
" Still no living monster? " Ragna asks as the other also can only find corpses everywhere on the 6th Floor.
While the others are not around, Ragna then tries to find a hidden spot for him to safely extract the Shadows from the corpses without the others noticing.
" How about here? " Ragna says as he arrived at the place filled with the corpses of female humanoid monsters.
" Hope the girls who died here can at least give me some light on what happened here. " Ragna comments on this incident.
" What did you say, Twelve, 69, should we? " Ragna asks his Two Previous Timeline Selves.
" We shall...."
" Let's ask the dead about what happened here... " 69 says as Ragna prepares to activate the skill.
