"Ramses, please open your eyes to see your son. I beg you to come back and be with us. We need you."
Akila whispered in her husband's ear softly, then waited to look at his face.
But she whimpered silently when nothing changed, not even a fluttering in his eyes.
"He is in deep sleep, your highness. I have been trying to talk with him for several days now, but I failed."
Omari spoke tenderly, and Akila wiped a stray tear before she looked up at him.
The king's advisor was playing with her son Aken as she was taking care of the king.
Akila didn't respond to him. She just twisted the small white cloth to wring the excess water from it, then she started to clean her husband's body.
They have told her that she is a queen and shouldn't do that. It is a servant's job, but she insisted on doing it.
Her husband was absent from the world, but Akila wanted to do this, at least for him.
