Akila drank the ale that her sister demanded she finish it all. And even though it was cold, it didn't calm that fire burning deep inside of her.
Heba had asked her a few times about what had happened, but Akila didn't have the strength or patience to recount everything, so instead, she asked the girl who was sitting with them silently.
Babu gave her a pitying look, and Akila averted her gaze. She didn't want the old man's pity; she wanted his help.
Maye said what had happened the moment she entered that dreadful room and Heba gasped in outrage.
Then she gave her a dark glare, not because she was angry with Akila but because she was angry for her.
"You should have killed them all along with that cunt queen. How dare she do such a thing?"
Heba said through a clenched jaw and Maye flinched away. Akila patted her thigh twice, and the girl settled after.
