Chapter Six
Raechel looked at her mother. She knew that she could not go against her. She had to do whatever she wanted her to do. "Of course mom...I know what I am supposed to do. I have to get Sky to fall in love with me. Don't worry mom...it's something that I can do easily" She told her mother. She already made up her mind two years ago. The one that she needed was Sky. She had to love him...that was the only way that she was going to survive. So she had to be in love with him. And she was going to make sure that she gets Sky to fall in love with her.
Esther looked at her daughter. Even though she said that she was going to do it she could sense that there was some kind of hesitation in her voice. Why will she be hesitating? She suddenly thought of something. Two years ago...she and that boy Mike had been really close. It could not be that it was because of him right? "Raechel...you know what you have to do right? You must not get distracted. You know that if you get distracted we are going to lose everything right?" She said. She had to remind her of what she had to do.
Heather sighed. Of course she knew what she had to do. If she made a mistake...they were going to lose everything. She could not afford that. She was nothing with that company..if she lost it...then she was nothing. "Of course mom. I know what I have to do. You don't need to remind me of it" Heather said. She can't lose her focus. She was not going to lose her focus at all. She knew what was right for her and her mother.
Philip could not help but look at the mother daughter pair. He was really amazed. The kid was only eighteen. But they were already planning an engagement for her. Isn't she....too young? Is this how rich families work? He really wanted to say something but he knew that no matter what he said his opinion would not be taken seriously he decided to keep to himself. That was the only thing that he could do anyway . He had no right at all to tell Esther and her daughter want to do with thier lives. Be could keep quiet and continue to watch them.
Esther sighed. All was good as long as this girl knew what she had to do. There was no need for her to panic or worry. "School is resuming in a few weeks. You have to prepare yourself. I'm sure that everyone at Kents High already knows that Sky is back...I hope that you will be able to handle it. Don't let anyone steal Sky away from you" Esther said. She was actually giving her a warning. Nothing must go wrong. All her plans of revenge was going to come crashing down if Raechel made a mistake. There is no way that she was going to accept that from her.
Rachel scoffed. Her mother did not need to be worried about that. None of the girls at Kents High were a match for her. As long as she was around...she was sure that no one would dare try to get close to her. "Mom...you don't need to worry about that. No one at Kents High is a match for me. They know better than to mess around with Sky" Rachel said. She was confident in herself. As long as she wanted it...she was going to get it. There was a confident smile on her face.
Sky looked at his father. He could not believe what he was hearing. He already made it clear to them two years ago that he wanted nothing to do with that girl. Rachel is completely horrible. There is no way that he wanted to get engaged to her. It was already bad enough that he will have to see her and Mike if he went to Kents High but what? Get engaged to her?! What nonsense is that? Sky was sure that this had something to do with the company. His father...the man was always ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of your company.
"Dad...what is the meaning of this nonsense? What? Get engaged to Rachel.? Why will I do something as crazy as that? I'm not going to do it! Don't even think about it. Dad...I already told you two years ago...that there is no way that I am going to have anything to do with that woman!" Sky said. Thinking about Rachel...his already bad mood got even worse. That girl...she really is something. He was sure that she knew about all of this. How can she even agree to something like this? After what happened two years ago? Does she not care about the feelings of Mike? How can someone be so cruel?
Rita was shocked to hear this. Her husband wanted Sky to get engaged to Rachel? She knew Rachel. She and Sky had been close before...but somehow something happened about two years ago and she knew..that they don't even speak to each other now. Actually...it used to be the three of them. Mike, Sky and Rachel...but then all of a sudden...they drifted apart. She always wanted to ask Sky what happened but in the end...she could never ask him. She did not want to hurt him at all.
Rita turned to Ryan. This was too much. Is he going to sell his son off as a part of some business?! "Don't you think that this is too much? An engagement for Sky? He is only eighteen years old. Are you going to sell him off for the sake of the company? How can you even think of doing that to your own son?" Rita asked. Even though her voice was calm...you could feel the annoyance from it. She was really angry. No matter what...this is too much! Using his son as a part of some business.
Ryan sighed. He knew that Sky was not going to accept it at once but he did not expect that his wife was going to stand against him too. It was for the company. He was doing all of this for the sake of the company! They needed Dodo's Fashion. And he knew...that the owner Esther, was a really ambitious woman. She needed her company too. Somehow...for thier own mutual interests...an engagement and marriage was steaming up. He had to convince them...that this was for the company. He was doing it for the sake of the company.
"I'm doing all of this for the sake of the company! We really need Dodo's Fashion that is the reason I am going this far! Sky you need to realize something. You are going to inherit the company. So you need to be ready to do anything for the benefit of the company!" Ryan said. Many people did not know about it but MK group also had its own internal struggles. They were many shareholders who wanted the company for themselves. He had to make sure that the position of CEO was solid before handing it over to Sky. And also..there was thier biggest rival...JK Enterprises..
Sky was getting tired of listening to this. What? For the sake of the company? So for the company he had to sacrifice himself? He knew one thing for sure. There was no way that he was going to do that. There was no way that he was going to sacrifice himself for the company. He already hated the idea of an arranged marriage but the fact that the candidate was Rachel...it made it even worse. There was no way that he wanted anything to do with that girl in this lifetime!
"Dad...I don't know what you are thinking with all this talk of an arranged marriage but let me make this clear to you...I am not going to have an engagement with her. If I can I really want to avoid Rachel for the rest of my life! Someone like that...there is no way that I am going to do that!" Sky said and walked upstairs. He already had enough of this. He knew that there was no way he was going to avoid going to Kents High. But no matter what...he will never have anything to do with Rachel.
Ryan rubbed his temples. He knew that he was going to have a really hard time with this matter. Sky was not going to agree to have anything to do with Rachel...he too...he had no idea about what had really happened two years ago. At least two years ago they were talking to each other. But now...it seemed as if he really hated her. He sighed. He just hoped that Esther will be able to keep her part of the bargain. He could have just left Sky abroad and planed the engagement but Esther suggested a method to him. He just hoped that Rachel will be able to do it.
Derrick was lying on his bed listening to music. He had a lot of things that were going on in his mind. Going back to school was something that he looked forward to. But now..he was not so sure. He did not understand why Xander had to suddenly come back. He and his mother had made such a fuss about wanting him to study abroad. But now...he is suddenly back. He knew that something was wrong. He could see the way that the both of them were acting. They won't be doing that if Xander had not gotten himself into some kind of trouble.
It was clear from the way that the both of them were fidgeting that Xander had gotten himself into some kind of trouble when he was abroad. He knew well what he was like. But Derrick knew that he won't be able to find out anything anyway. His mother already probably covered everything up really well. He did not think much about it because he would never find out anyway. He was concerned about Xander going to Kents High. It was really annoying. It was bad enough that Xander was bothering him in this house...now he was going to bother him at school too?
Just then his door opened and Xander walked in. Derrick sat up immediately. What could this person want? He looked at him. There was a mischievous smile playing on his face. Derrick knew that this would not be good. Nothing good ever happened when Xander smiled that way. "Xander...is there something that you want to talk to me about?" Derrick asked. He had a submissive time. This was the only tune that he could use when he was in this house. If he dared to raise his voice....it would be terrible for him.
Xander smiled. He came here because he wanted to talk to Derrick. He felt like this person was starting to over step his boundaries. How dare he question him in front of his father just now? He could have gotten into a lot of trouble if his father had gotten suspicious. His father did not ask why he wanted to come back..he just got his mother to convince him that schooling abroad was not a good idea and he wanted to come back home. Thankfully...he did not ask any questions. But then..he got back home and this idiot kept trying to make his father feel suspicious of him. He was not going to stand for it. It seemed as if Derrick got bolder in the months that he was away...he was going to put him back in his place.
"Hey...what did you think that you were doing in front of dad? Do you want him to be suspicious of me? I don't care whatever plan that you have but you had better stop it. If dad gets suspicious because of you...I'm not going to let it go at all" Xander threatened him.
