Chapter 35 - A New Profession

"I am grateful and privileged that there are people to carry my legacy. But more than that, even in my death, I have been burdened by the disaster that is coming into the world, the blueprint is the only way to protect our continent" The vestige which took on a transparent appearance of Helena. She turned and looked at Leon.

"I see pity in your eyes, you must have seen it" She said to him, "Then there's no one more fit for this job than you."

Leon turned back, "No thanks, I don't want your job. I have more than enough on my plate already"

[You cannot refuse this quest as you are the only person that has read Helena's diary]

"The fate of the entire continent rests on this, it'd be selfishness not to agree" the vestige said to him.

Leon sighed and turned back, "What is it?" Leon asked.

"During one of our voyages, Corin and I discovered the prints of a creature like nothing we have ever seen, it wasn't a monster nor a beast, but it clothed itself in human skin, could talk like us, could eat and do everything like us, but Corin was very sure it was not human. Being unable to approach it because it was far greater than what we could deal with, Corin and I began to investigate this creatures. Only to find out later on that these creatures have been on our continent longer than any one of our age at that time had memory of and they had completely mixed amidst the continent, plus they were seeking something. The blueprint was how I found out what they were looking for. If they find the blueprint they will find what they are looking for, but that blueprint is also our chance of winning against them should they ever come out of their hiding and wage war against humanity. I need you to find the blueprint and take it to Corin's tomb in the Merfolk kingdom...for that you'll need this"

A fancy blue book appeared on her hand.

"I will be trusting you as I leave this to you" She gently placed the book in Leon's hand as she disappeared.

Leon opened the book.

Leon's face lit up, "definitely"

Tessa and Gretas looked at him.

"That is the face of someone who just got a profession" Tessa said.

"I know right" Gretas responded, both of them shook their head.

[You can't change your profession]

The book closed by itself.

"Hey? hey? what do you mean?"

Leon opened the book again.

[You can't change your profession]

The boom closed on its own, he forced it open, 'Please, please, just this once, this is a better profession compared to the one that has no rating'

[You can't change profession]

[You can't change profession]

[You can't change profession]

[You can't change profession]

[You can't change profession]

Leon sank to his knees as his countenance fell, '...how did it come to this...' he thought to himself while looking up. Gretas entered his vision.

"No matter what happens, I will always be your friend" Gretas said, gently tapping his shoulder.

He looked at Gretas like a clueless puppy, "What profession do you have ?" Leon asked.

"Me? Rogue"

"No wonder your are so rogueful, what's the rating?"

"Common"

Leon stretched the book to him. He collected it cluelessly as he opened it his expression lit up likewise Leon some minutes ago.

"Oh my God!! oh my God!!" He shouted while jumping furiously.

"Is it a profession?" Tessa asked.

"Yes!! Corsair, Heroic rating" He responded happily.

'...just beneath my profession rating.' She said in her mind.

A blue light glowed around Gretas.

"..." Gretas was speechless as he looked down at the quest information.

There was a sudden tremor. Leon immediately stood up.

"I think the dungeon is closing" Tessa said.

"This feeling... I'm getting a weird sensation, like the coming wave of water is talking to us"

"...there's a coming wave of water?"

Gretas nodded, "A flood it seems" He responded to Leon, who in turn began to ran, they naturally followed him.

"Hey! what about Arthur" Gretas asked they ran.

"Save yourself first!!" Leon responded as he put more speed to his pace.

The flood met them and swept them through the cave.

[You can learn water breathe]

Gretas saw the notification while he was underneath the water.

[After learning Water breathing technique, you will be able to breathe under water]

Even though the turbulent and aggressive flood was pushing them away, he felt so happy within it as he saw these notifications. Finally they were thrown out of the dungeon by the water.

[Party leader: Arthur has left the party]

[Tessa has been automatically selected as the party leader]

"I guess he's gone" Leon said as he saw the notification. He looked at them, "You all might not know this, but Arthur decided to give me his share of the drops"

He could practically feel Tessa's gaze tear into him. "I'm not lying?"

"Shut up, we are sharing it equally!" She shouted at him.

"We got quite a lot, why the hell do you have to be selfish?!!" She shouted again at him.

"Uhn uhn, this is cheating, this is wrong, Arthur promised me his shares and now you are just going to share it amongst yourself." Leon whined.

"Then will you bring the egg and let us share everything equally?"

"Hmph, its fine. I'll allow it just this once..." He said calmly. Gretas smiled at him.

"That look is cringe" He said to Gretas without looking at him.

"I'm just grateful for the profession"

"You can give me your share of the spoils then"

"Sure...what?"

"Thank you for your generosity" Leon grinned at him.
