Many emotions enveloped me once reaching the outside world—wonderment, pride, awe, excitement, but most importantly of all, happiness.
I felt the air through my puppet, it felt clean, unlike in my tomb. Which felt heavy, almost to a suffocating level.
But back to more pleasant things, I saw the glorious light of the sun!
What I couldn't feel through my bladed body, I could feel through the puppet. And what I felt was magnificent!
The hot sun on me, the cool air flowing past me. Causing all the trees to move only a tiny bit. The rustling of the leaves that I have never heard before absolutely captivated me.
For the longest time, I heard the painful sound of silence, now a whole world of sounds and temperatures was opened before me!
For a long time, I just stood there. Admiring the beauty of nature. From the different colors of trees to enjoying the melody of the distant wildlife.
A pleasant feeling overcame me. So long did I have spent my newly freed life in dark and stillness stone. But to have the rustling of trees and animals now feels so nice.
However as much as I hate to admit it, I could not stay here forever.
As wonderful as this land is, to get a bearing for where I am I need to go somewhere. And that somewhere must be civilization!
While I do have a general sense of this land and its people thanks to the memories of my puppet. This is not the land that I would call my birthplace.
My journey is to discover why I was entombed and who created me.
I know it was the blacksmith from my memories, as he was the only face I could remember and wasn't just a haze to me. At least that is what I have deduced.
All my other memories are either broken, gone, or very hard to get anything valuable about myself. Just some powers I have and combat maneuvers I have learned.
So it is the best reason that my memory of that blacksmith will help me regain and repair said memories.
But to even get close to him, I had to reach civilization, and learn about this land.
Judging from this puppet's memories the nearest town is a few miles away. The town is called Southern Eaglestone.
The name brings up no memories or feelings, so it's safe to assume I have never been there before my entombment.
While I began to walk towards Southern Eaglestone basing my directions on this meat puppet's memories, I look behind me to the entrance of my catacomb.
A feeling of simultaneous relief and disgust grew inside me. While this was my prison for the longest time, it is also one of the first places I actually had true thought.
While I shall not miss the place, I won't forget it. As it is the first stepping stone on my quest to find the one who forged me.
An hour passes.
Unlike my trip to leave my tomb, the walk here was surprisingly quite short.
I arrived at a stone wall with a large open wooden gate. Traffic constantly came in and out through the gate.
I was honestly quite surprised! I that Southern Eaglestone would be just a regular hamlet, not a small city!
As I walked into the city the guard didn't even check me for anything. I guess during rush hour, some armored knight is the least of your worries than some trader with lots of cargo, possibly bringing contraband into the city.
Speaking of the city it was very lively. There were both large and small buildings placed next to each other. Each is made of wood or stone, each providing a service for paying customers or housing for those with enough money to live in the main district.
Now having a nice stroll through town wasn't my main goal for this trip. No, what I wanted to go was shopping.
This specific item isn't actually sold at stores, but it is found almost everywhere else!
What I am talking about is a new body.
Now, this doesn't mean I have a dislike for this body far from it! It's strong, athletic, barely damaged armor, and a helmet that covered its entire face! Which has many reasons itself for being good.
However, keeping the body in control is the major downside of this body. It feels like a tiny voice is screaming into my ear, begging for me to stop controlling this body.
And right now, I don't need some luck and hope that I will be able to control this body. I need certainly.
And certainly comes in the form of a new body.
Either a weak-willed fool or someone's trust and naivety would do nicely.
However finding that will be quite tedious, but I do know a way to get my new fool.
Fifteen Minutes Pass
After asking for directions and using this memory of my puppet, I made it to my destined location.
I arrived at the most dangerous part of Southern Eaglestone, the shanty part of it.
Now unlike the main portion of the town, full of grand two to three stories buildings made of excellent wood and stone. Were every one looks prim and proper, only paying attention to their own worries. But this part of the town was the ugly blister attached to do oh so perfect market district.
The shanty district was true to its name, the main buildings everywhere were cheap, usually, one-story shacks hastily thrown together. The many races and species of people that were there looked only in commoner clothes and rags.
And while nobody in the main or market district didn't bat me an eye, it felt as though everyone that I came across was staring directly at me.
Most likely due to the armor of my puppet, and by extension me as well.
However I had no care for looks or first impressions in this part of town, the only thing to do now is find a new puppet and get on with my quest.
And the quickest way to a loyal puppet is to save their life.
