Diary entry
29th January 2018
Hi Matthew! I am missing you. I wish I finish my mission as soon as possible – find the boy and dethrone my mother – our chief and return to your arms. Be with you. Enjoy your company. But time that is what I do not have. The date to sacrifice the boy will pass after three months. I have to find that boy within three months. I had promised it to myself. He can be hiding in heaven or in hell; I have to find him and drag him to our village. Then the villagers will respect me.
Everyone fears our Chief. Even I, more so, for she is my mother. Papa, Ronald and Sebastian are all three her first batch of husbands. She has now twenty young loved ones and twenty old discarded ignored husbands. This is our custom. Shocking, isn't it? She has physically tortured me several times in my early childhood – but it is a normal thing in our culture. She has thrashed me mercilessly, canned me, lashed me, and even once threw me into a pond when I was only six – I did not know swimming then. If it was not for Papa; I would be dead. I do not fear ghosts. I fear my mother. I see her in my nightmares.
I am sorry.
I know you will not ever read my diary.
My mother thinks that she was weakened because of me. I am ominous to her. She hates me for that reason.
There is a strange custom in our village. At the age of puberty, one woman becomes eligible for marriage. But to become eligible to marry, she has to fight in the pit against a strong male wrestler and win. If she wins she is declared eligible to marry. But if she loses she is punished with capital punishment. Our Chief's Righthand beheads that woman. When I became sixteen I fought against Charul – the strongest male wrestler of our area. I was fighting ok; but my mother wanted me lose. She had mixed up sleeping pills in my drink. There were three rounds. I won two rounds. On the third and decisive round, my mother offered me a glass of drink. I could not deny and I faltered in the pit. So it was a draw. Neither I became eligible, nor I can be punished with death. So I was banished. Papa and his two followers Ronald and Sebastian came here. Papa got a plan. He, only he, believed that the boy was living. So we started searching for Andrew. For according to Papa, Andrew had helped their escape. We find Andrew, we find the boy. In the mean time the publisher, Karl declared that he would publish Andrew's manuscript. We went to Karl and got the manuscript. And split up to the locations described in the manuscript to find any clue about the whereabouts of Andrew. on the way I met you. The first time I saw you, I liked your cute look; but that was distracting for me. So I remained rigid. Besides you are too pushy. But that is why I like you now. Because of you I like your world. Well, not completely though. But, slightly yes. But I love you completely.
Earlier when I started the mission to find the boy I had thought that I would return to my village if I found the boy; and live there with honor. But no. Who wants to live with a deceitful mother? Thanks to you. After finishing my mission I will hand Papa the boy; but I will come back and live with your parents, if that is ok. We can live together. Papa, Ronald and Sebastian will be there to help us.
