Chapter 78 - 78- Inner Voice

Veronica woke up early and got ready. Despite feeling fresh, her inner voice was hopeless: No, I do not think today we will find any trace of Andrew. But like a drill, she knew she had to do it. Just like yesterday, she would go along with Matthew and knock everyone's door and and clutching Andrew's photo, Matthew would ask them in their language if they know him. Everyone would say No and she would ask Mark to drop her off at the nearby railway station before heading to her next target place.

She hoped to obtain some solid clues about Andrew, but all these were boring like the Malkhan hill incident. But as per Matthew, the old man's wife had some illicit relationship with Andrew. That was not a clue to help find Andrew, even though she had a bad image of him.

As she opened the window of the room, a gust of chilly wind depicting an imminent beautiful sunrise and a breath of new hope, slipped into the room and ruffled her hair. If not today, then tomorrow; if not tomorrow then some other day…but surely I am going to spot Andrew and get my goal: she repeatedly said this to herself, as if chanting a mantra.

However, the next moment she would feel ashamed after realizing that these same words were spoken by Matthew.  Matthew, such a caring and helpful boy! He could make a very good friend indeed. Despite having a very bad sense of humour, he was eager to see me smile. – Ok, ok. Today we are going our separate ways. I am grateful to him for what he had done for me.

After Matthew and Mark had woken up, the trio finished their breakfast before Mark dropped them off at the verge of a village. Following yesterday's routine, she showed the photo and Matthew asked the question in Orag language.

Veronica wondered why Matthew looked sad today: Perhaps because of my behavior of yesterday. Why did I do it yesterday? Why did I vent my anger on him? I should have controlled my anger and checked my mouth. When he looked sadly at her, she smirked.

Today also, she found no one who knew Andrew. She asked herself: Will I find any trace of him in Belamundis? And a negative answer came from her heart. At that time, she said to herself: Do not get disheartened. Possibly Andrew never came to this beautiful state. Even he came here, no one remembers him. Well, he is not really a big celebrity. It is ok. Do not get disheartened. You can go to your next target. I feel Andrew might be staying at Trebat.

Breaking her thought, Matthew said: "We did not find any information about Andrew here. Let's go to the next village."

The next village was a walk of a couple of kilometers through the forest from here.
