Mark was driving to Nichicoat village where he also had a business deal. Veronica and Matthew who both sat at the back seat neither talked to each other nor exchanged glances! Whereas Matthew was busy with his android phone, Veronica was savouring the pristine and beautiful nature outside, as she focused on the ice-topped hills, strange colorful chirping birds, unique plants and the people passing by.
She tried to forget the incident that happened between her and Matthew. If she remembered it, she would have scolded herself vehemently. Worse still and going by her antecedents, she could hurt and physically injure herself. This explains why she tried to avoid Matthew or even think that he was sitting beside her.
In no time she was so carried away by the beautiful scenery that she forgot everything. She was excited by the chill of the wind and the threatening black cloud hovering overhead. As she attempted to look at the sky through a different window, she turned her head and saw Matthew was there. She glanced at him accidentally and out of curiosity, Matthew raised his chin from his mobile phone and wondered why she was looking at him.
When their eyes met, she became angry at herself, and not at Matthew! How could I forget this faggot is sitting beside me? How could I glance at him? Shit! How could I be so forgetful? How could I enjoy the nature and forget about my goal: she thought.
Another strange question popped up in her mind: Is he thinking like me? Is he as fidgety in his mind as I am? He is flirtatious, but does not seem fickle like me. He is all serious, sitting gravely beside me. She resisted an urge to look at him again and even managed to control her anger: Who knows? He might be thinking me strong also. May be a bit rude – sorry Matthew. You are a good boy. I wish I could be your lifelong friend. But… not now.
I have a mission to accomplish. Something terrible is at stake. I wish my life were not as jumbled up as it is. Then I would be your best friend.
