Chapter 57 - 57- The Man

A tall, middle age but heavily bearded man entered the uncrowded internet café. The café owner stood up to greet him, "Hi sir."

He had never come here. Yet how come the café owner knew him and showed him respect; or it was his attire – an expensive violet suit and expensive shoes.

The café owner asked smiling hard, "How is your son, sir?"

The tall man thought: Oh, my son frequented this café. That is how the owner knows me.

"He is good," replied the bearded man after some thought.

The café owner asked again, "Do you need a set for browsing, sir?"

Irritated, the bearded man said, "Don't call me 'sir' repeatedly. Call me Adam. And no-yes. I mean, I want to know does my son use any particular computer here."

The café owner suspiciously eyed the bearded man, whose name as he told was Adam. Adam knew what exactly the café owner was thinking. The café owner was thinking: This father had come here to check on his son. Whether his son sees any pornographic site or not.

When the café owner became conscious of the hanging question of Adam, he smiled again and said, "Yes sir, the last one. Let me take you there." And the café owner escorted Adam through a narrow pathway among the computer cabinets to a lone set. And he said, "Your son comes to this set regularly. He prefers this set."

Adam said, "Hmm." He paused for a few second. Then he said, "Can you, can you, please show me its history?"

The café owner clicked the mouse a few time, after several clicks there appeared all the sites opened by this set.

The café owner said, "Generally no one prefers this set as there is no fan system for this set, as you can see. But your son likes this set very much. I must say, he is a very good chap. Always smiles and says, 'Hi, uncle,' to me. Very decent chap."

"Thank you," said Adam while seeing the history.

The café owner brooded for a moment, and then said, "Unlike others, he never browses Facebook or Twitter. He sees scientific discovery national geographic things and news, etc. He loves to read, I guess."

Adam nodded and silently checked history. For a few second the café owner stood silently there. Then he started to go back to his chair. But before leaving he turned toward Adam and said, "Your son is the best boy around here."

"Thank you."

"He would not see bad things. I know. Because I could check on him through my computer, you know. He never sees bad things. Your son is the best boy," the café owner saying so went away to his chair.

Adam searched through history. He saw a link to Facebook. He opened it. Perhaps as his son thought this computer set was only for him, he did not log out of Facebook. Adam was astonished to see a lot of messages unread. He opened some messages. Mostly messages were sent from girls. Adam was shocked. My son knows talking to girls, I did not know: thought he. Some chats were very old and personal. He read one Ruby's messages. Ruby called his son "Hons." Come on, my wife does not know to call me honey: thought he. Then he left Facebook. He opened another link. It was an online dating site. He thought: My son hides so much. I am nothing before him. He clicked on another link. As the page appeared slowly, Adam's eyes got big and his mouth fell and he muttered under his breath, "Oh past, oh past."
