Chapter 8 - 8. Departing

Wearing a green Polo tee shirt and flashing his muscular arms Sebastian got out of the lift and strode to the lobby. The floor was made up of fine marble. A grand chandelier hung from the roof. Sofas adorned embroidered silk clothes. There was an LED television fixed to the wall. The door that led into the lobby was a grand oak door with a golden handle. The desk was painted black and there was a dark granite top on it. Exquisite modern paintings hung from the multicolor walls. The ceiling was a high dome. It was a sight to be adored. Sebastian gave the lobby a last view. At the desk was sitting a petite lady. Seeing Sebastian she smiled. Nervously. He silently nodded in response to her smile. Then sat on one of the sofas watching the news. He liked watching and reading news. Also he wanted to be in a news or to make a news. He strongly had wished, wishing against wishes, while torturing the publisher that he had gone to police and informed about them – at least him and there would be sketches of him flashing on television screen. But it was all a daydream for him now. People are too afraid in this part of the world. A C.D. – an affair – a threat – little blackmailing and see people are afraid: he thought. Then he tried to replace the publisher by himself in his imagination. He would definitely have gone to the police. But daydreams seldom came true. So he listened to the news flashing on the television. It was unimportant and usual: accidents, murders, terrorism, political leaders addressing or signing some deals while cordially shaking hands and baring their flashy teeth while trying to beat each other in their throne games; then sports news. He listened to the news for a minute or two. Then he got his mobile phone out of his pocket and acted as if calling a friend, even acted as if sending a voice message by saying, "Hey, I waited for you in the lobby. Watched boring news for a quarter of an hour. But you did not show up. So I am going to the movie. I hope you are coming in time." Then he put the mobile phone inside his pocket. Again nodding to the nervously smiling lady receptionist he went out.
