Elle's footsteps stopped right after entering the cafeteria on the ground floor and on the same floor as the lobby. The company provided a canteen where employees could have lunch. They made it to maintain efficiency so the employees wouldn't have to leave the company and walked quite a distance to find lunch. Of course, they were not obliged to eat there. It was merely a choice they could take or leave if there was a better option.
Elle's eyes wandered around the room. The canteen was spacious, but only a handful of people sat there. She tilted her head, somewhat felt strange knowing the situation. In her memory, the place became a favorite because it offered affordable prices with good taste. Why did it turn quiet?
"You must wonder why this place is deserted," Chris guessed right on target. He seemed to read Elle's mind because it was exactly what she was thinking.
Without hesitation, Elle nodded her head.
