Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

No ones POV

Sun shines brightly in the sky implying morning routine has already begun in full swing for Kashish. Saina rises from her bed and head to hall to find breakfast fully set on the table "Didn't you sleep? Why are you up so early?" Saina inquires. Kashish chuckles "First of all its already 11 am Ma and I did sleep its just that I woke up in regular time and did little cleaning. I am habituated to it and I guess I wont be able to change it anytime soon" she implies. Saina joins in chuckles "I guess I was too tired. So where did you get the items to prepare breakfast". "I went to nearby market and bought fresh vegetables and fruits. Although cooking utensils are limited it was enough to prepare today's breakfast. So dig in" Kashish simply states.

"We need to buy new utensils, we couldn't bring most of them with us due to load issue" Saina comments. "Don't worry Ma, I will go and buy necessities after breakfast" Kashish informs. "But how will you manage alone. It is a new city what if you are misled about the price. We can't afford to lose even a single paisa this moment" Saina worriedly states. But before Kashish can assure her, Sunehri enters speaking loudly "Don't worry aunty, I am here. I will help Kashish".

"Really? but we really don't want to impose" Saina comments hesitantly. Just then Parvaan enters "Oho aunty you think too much. Babli and I will be happy to help". Babli happily agrees "Of course".

Kashish's POV

After insisting my mother I, Babli and Parvaan head out to buy our daily necessities and kitchen utensils. Parvaan introduces a small shop at some distance from our neighbourhood. "This the best shop to buy all the required home needs, it might look small but it gives you best deal" Parvaan enthusiastically informs. Babli snorts "He is saying this because this is his friends shop". Parvaan mutters annoyingly "Stop interfering. I am only stating the true fact", Babli chuckles at her brothers reaction.

We buy everything that is required and sit in street tea stall to rest for a bit after continuously shopping. "I can't believe that all those shop always has something missing. We couldn't get everything from single shop itself" Babli grumbles. I exhale and informs "It was same in Mirzapur. We always had to visit as many shops as number of items". Parvaan hands me a cup of tea, I take it thanking him. I take a sip "It is very good" I comment. Babli gives a moan after sipping the hot tea "It has best tea in whole Delhi and I can guarantee it" she states with high spirits. "I guess you have gained back your energy" I utter. Parvaan laughs at my comment "Trust me she is never lacking of that. But I do agree with her opinion about this being the best tea, although we haven't even tried all of them". Babli continues "Parvaan bro once said if he finds a girl that makes better tea than this stall he will marry her". Parvaan spits the tea in surprise that he was drinking "Yah when did I say that". Babli rolls her eye "Oh don't deny, I remember it vividly, you are just embarrassed to admit it" she continues sipping her tea after irking her brother. Parvaan glares at his sister but carries on drinking his remaining tea.

We arrive back home pretty late than expected as Babli wanted to ensure I was introduced to every important people of the neighborhood, although I opposed the idea as I am not good around new people. My mother questioned but Parvaan assuring words calmed my mothers incoming anger and tension which is a very rare occurrence.

Next day,

I am going through morning newspaper after finishing my morning routine looking at the job advertisement section. My mother walks in sleepily, "Good morning Ma, had a good sleep?" I greet. My mother takes a seat and yawns lazily "I am having a body pain", I look at her worriedly "Do you need a massage, I will heat oil. Wait for a minute", my mother gestures me to stop "Not required, all this shifting has finally taken a toll on my body". "That is why I asked you to not work. I would have managed by myself" I return. She exhales "This is the least I can do for you. You have been running around and continuously working ever since we arrived" and looks tiredly at me. I guiltily avert my eyes "It's my duty Ma which I couldn't fulfill". She chortles "What's with this expression? I am fine it's just that I am getting old. Stop being emotional for smallest reason". I nod and start reading newspaper again. "What are you doing reading newspaper? That's a very rare sight to see. Did sun rise from west today?" my mother pokes fun at me. I feign a laugh "Very funny Ma. I am looking for a job advertisement I will apply for those I am eligible". My mother suddenly turns serious "You don't need to do that so early, it's just our second day" she comments. "No Ma it's better to start early. It wont be easy to find a decent job. I don't have the qualification so I will need to find a job which will need a body labor" I reason. My mother becomes tense "Relax Ma, I am joking there are lot of job opportunities, I can work in hotel, restaurant or even in shopping mall. You don't need to worry" I cheekily smile. "I thought you were talking about being labor" my mother snorts. "I want to be a cook but there is no vacancy as per I can see right now. Back in Mirzapur I was lucky enough to be hired. Here I will need to work twice harder" I comment tiredly.

After about three weeks shifting to Delhi, I am here working as a salesgirl in a major shopping mall for a clothing section. Although I don't have a experience working as a salesgirl, they were in very much of need of a worker so I was hired very easily. At the beginning I was very confused and I messed up once or twice, but now slowly I am getting hang of it. There are days when it is crowded and some days it is little less hectic, today was latter. "Kashish, can you cover up for me. I really need to be out for an hour" Suman my co-worker requests joining both hands, "Why? where are you going?" I ask confuse. She shyly tucks her hair behind her ear "My boyfriend is here to meet me. Please please he came all the way from different city" she literally begs to me. I agree smiling. "Yeah" she excitedly jumps and hugs me "I will be back in an hour" she shouts striding away in fast pace. "Where is she going?" my another co-worker Emma questions me. "She has an urgent matter to handle" I reply. She looks at me frowning "Just say she went to waste her time and give us her work". Emma has not been friendly to me since the first day, Suman said she behaves the same to everybody but I have a conflicting feeling about it. Sometimes I see her glaring towards my direction, and sometimes I feel she intentionally gives me more work. But I am new how can I complain with just my gut feeling. While I was in my deep thoughts a young lady walks in wearing sophisticated high heels and a dress looking like she just came out from magazine photo shoot. Emma runs and greets her plastering the most fake smile I can see in my life "Welcome Miss. Chowdhury". "Don't call me that. Call me Miss Cherry" the lady grumbles giving disgusted look to Emma, although I am not a fan of Emma but no one deserves to treated this way. Emma calmly replies "Sorry, Miss Cherry. How can I help you?".

Cherry without giving a second glance towards Emma simply states "Show me the newest collection", suddenly she turns and meets my eye "You there I have never see you before". I get confuse with sudden question thrown at me. Before I could speak Emma intervenes "She is new, she joined last week".
