The sound cues weren't enough for Kevin to accurately guess how many armed bandits were inside the room. To learn more about the people on the other side of the door, he needed them to engage in conversation.
For now, Kevin decided to move to the next room. It had similar dimensions and even the same wooden door with a brass doorknob.
As Kevin activated his thermal scanner again, he spotted five glowing orange silhouettes on the other side.
Just like before, he put his ear to the door and tried to listen to the voices inside the room.
"There's always some issue with the power these days," a heavy male voice sighed in annoyance.
"Pacing the room.... isn't.... gonna fix the issue," another younger voice responded in between chewing noises. "You...need to...relax."
"Just finish your damn sandwich first," the other guy scoffed haughtily.
"You know...exercising with these girls...always makes me...aum...hungry."
