As the blast door came to view, the twins slowed down their hoverbikes and switched to ground mode. The flying vehicles gradually transformed back into regular bikes. The narrow landing strip guided them towards the bunker.
Mira pulled up right in front of the main gate, but Cairo stopped her bike far away from the entrance. She knew the blast door would never open if it detected an android. They had to obtain the Professor's permission to enter the shelter with their new guest.
After dismounting from her hoverbike, Mira took off her helmet and mask and turned to Cairo.
"We're here now. Are you sure about this?"
Cairo unclasped the belt of her helmet and lifted it clean off her head. Shaking her head, she untangled her messy, sweaty hair and brushed back the stray locks. She slowly took off her ZN-98 mask and let out a sigh of relief. Breathing in the clear desert air, she stretched out her arms and straightened her back.
